Cb750 poor running

Hello,
I am trying to sort out the poor running of my bike, (not much response when i open the throttle) I have given the carbs a good clean but i am not sure about the right setting also I would like to check the valves to see if things improve.

What would you check first?

check the plugs,

 they can tell you such a lot,

 set the ignition timing with a strobe,

you could check tappet clearence,make sure its not to tight
