Lovely patina , dodgy bars but I have some rechromed UK style CB250K0 ones that I am hoping will fit. RGP750 is checking as he has a UK CB175K6.

All my mates, mates mates etc. want to buy this bike ! Never realized they are so popular.

As soon as I bought it I went  straight on Yahoo.jp and bought some much nicer pipes .. they are in Chris in Japan's 'Man-Shed' in the Land of the rising Yen still though.
Got some NOS shocks for it last year as I thought they would fit a CB250K .. they didn't. Not that the ones on the bike are bad.

Carbs were totally gummed up from standing. Going to dunk in methylene Chloride (look away Julie ;D) and then hot ultrasonic clean them. Both carbs had the plate/clip missing 11 in diagram attached so needles would have been free to float about. Exactly the same fault as my first bike at 17 had, when I bought it,  a C200 90cc 'sports'

Anyway the only real problem is that the kickstart does not turn the engine over. Removed the clutch cover ... bloody difficult 'cos PO had bonded the gaskets with what looked like Araldite. That combined with the dreaded silicone sealant on the cam cover plus the fact the bike had been standing and access to the kickstart gears means splitting the crankcases, made me decide to totally strip the engine. Cam, cam bearings, followers, rollers, head, barrels and pistons all looked great with no obvious wear. Separated cases after finding a 'hidden' M8 bolt which can only be accessed by removing the oil drain plug .. "when all else fails read the manual". All of the gears, crank, bearing etc looked fine. BUT kickstart gears look totally sha**ed ,, God knows where the missing gnashers went... possibly into the centrifugal oil filter, as I have not removed the cover from that yet. Surprisingly, I can't see that is't damaged any other components but I will have to examine the crank and gears closely. Plain brass bushes on at least one gearbox bearing in this engine .. not needle rollers.

So back to the 500K0 / 750K0 until I get, at least, replacement kickstart gears, gasket set and camchain. Going to leave the rest of the bike as it is. It would be criminal IMHO to lose that lovely patina.

Rozabikes Tim:
Very nice Ash. Intrigued by thread title referring specifically to 360 degree crank. Were there other versions?

No there wasn't sorry to be confusing.. it was just to denote it's a buzzy engine. There was a 250K though but only in Japan with a 360 degree crank though ... JDM only the CD250 !

UK Pete:
great little bike ash

Lovely bike, looking forward to following this, and of course considering how to bring the pipes over, might have to visit....
