Classic Triumph Twins

Here's a long shot. Does anybody have, hiding in the back of the garage, a complete Triumph T100 or T120 or even a T140 engine they would be willing to sell. Cash waiting for the right engine. If that's not specific enough, preferably a 1971 T100R Daytona unit. Like I said, a long shot.

Or indeed, any suggestions where I may find one. Cheers.

Hi Roy,
You could give Fred Wilson a call, he used to run Jacksons of Chorley.  He is a Triumph Guru and has many Meriden factory tools for Triumph twins.  Now does 'Rebores in Lancashire' from home in Whittle-le-Woods area, not too far from you.  Probably can't supply an engine but may know 'a man who can' as he has stacks of useful contacts.
Not sure if he knows I moved to Orkney but tell him I asked after him, he's a great guy, hope his Harrison lathe is still working well, he's on 01257 264151,

That was a good find on eBay, unfortunately its an early 5TA not a T100. Cant really use it as its an early distributor model plus no left side tacho drive. I already have one of those. Also its had a bit of a strange modification to the head to fit twin carbs, not sure what that's all about but it's a bit chopperish. Good find though, thanks Woodside.

Love the mods to the SLS front brake to make it look like 'big brakes' So the head may be a Triton/Tribsa mod, interesting.

Its a tribsa 750cc ex racing bike it's a 1954 bsa b31 nickled frame triumph 6t bottom end with a 750 barrel and high comp piston. 9 stud bonny head. 3134 exhaust cam. Somerton inlet. thruxton one piece crankshaft. gold wader competition mag.
The brake is a twin sided sls that was handmade ...not by me I must admit...but quite a thing...and loud...got it registered now so it's all legal...can't belive it doesn't need an mot....?

Sadly.....or happily it did not come with any history..
I bought it as a non runner and have completely  re worked everything on it ( kind of drops into the other thread about restoration) I like my bikes to look as old as they are but to be mechanically as good as possible..
I won't bore you with what actually this consisted of but as I later found most of it was hand made so just swapping things over was not an option it all needed to be repaired....

After about 3 years it was back running and now road legal...I tried and tried to find out what and where it was from.
Needless to say I couldn't find anything.
So I advertised it ..........it didn't sell a few good offers but everyone wanted some sort of history...one guy thought it was a Bike he had helped with race preparation but couldn't be sure...but thought it belonged to an RAF chap
About a year ago I had a call on a Sunday morning. Now I never answer the land line because it's never for me but for some unexplained reason this time I did...

"Hello is that the chap from lindford? You may want to speak to me !  I built your racing tribsa?"
Fook me I could've fell over Mr mcdougal (ex RAF chap)
It turns out his son was in a pub chatting to his mate and was telling him his dad used to race a tribsa not knowing what a tribsa was he googled it and first hit up popped my/his dad's old bike? From my car and classic add...
Anyway.  Mr mcdougal still has loads of pics of it racing...he has sent a few to me
And still has all the build receipts that he is in the process of copying for me...to forward over.
He has also sent about a dozen emails of the story of the bike why he built it and how it was done...mostly by himself and a few very clever mates....
Now I do have history with it....some build  pics and race pics ....loads to come hopefully and a large folder of receipts
