Thanks trigger, I've got some blue hylomar so will go with that if it's suitable.

Don't forget to put the primary gear inside the chain first

Thanks for the pointers both, the kickstart is already assembled in the bottom case. I have however forgotten to order the cap for the clutch shaft.

The local main dealer can't get them in stock and they are a week special order from DS so il have to wait for it to arrive before I can assemble the cases.  >:(

My oil seal arrived today so I got on with building the engine cases back up.

I got both cases mounted together and the primary installed:

I have also installed the gear shift:

A concern I have though is, there seem to be 2 small issues with the casting either side of the shaft, shown in this picture. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

I seem to remember that the line on the bearing should be horizontal with the joint line so are you sure it was on the locating peg properly?

Thanks Bryan, I did look at that and double checked the pin was located and that everything moves as it should. I've also got a picture of it like this before I stripped it down:

Thanks oddjob.

Over the weekend I got the engine bits painted and baked in my home made oven.

I also collected the remainder of the parts from powdercoat

I've also ordered the tyres for the wheels so hopefully will drop the wheels off to be built with new spokes at the weekend.

Thanks, I think I did like the look of the bolt head being the same colour as the case in this instance. For the less (torque) critical bolts I was planning on using stainless cap heads where I can. (Covers, engine mounts, etc).

You are correct, the gear shaft seal was missing when I took the picture but it's been installed now. Along with fitting the Pistons to the rods.

I took the tank to a friend today who is the paint shop manager for a very large dustbin lorry manufacturer as he offered to paint the tank for me.

I try to do as much of the work myself and to learn new skills as I go. However, the equipment he's got to use will undoubtedly give a better result than me doing the job myself.

The colour I've chosen may not be to everyone's taste but I'm hoping it will suit the style I'm going for.

The tyres and new wheel bearing arrived today. I got on with pressing the bearings in so I can take the wheels to be built up at the weekend.

Thanks, the spokes will be satin black also.

It's probably a bit too much black for some tastes but I've never really been a fan of shiny things like chrome, stainless etc. So I'm trying to limit the amount used to bolt heads etc.

Thanks mark, the only other colour I'd have gone for was to match the tank but I don't think the colour I've chosen is available.
