Insurance renewal time, Carol Nash trying to fleece me so had a ring around. Devitts does not recognise the CB750K (736cc) at all. Muppets "no sir not on our database so we cannot quote"
My bike has been insured with Carol Nash and E Bike without problems over the last few years.
Then the cheeky ***** phone me up.

Worth joining the vjmc or vmcc and using one of the recommended insurers you get a really good discount. I have three bikes insured with agreed values for less than £70. Although I live in a good post code for insurance. Worth a go, plus you also get to use the club for many other things. Personally I'm in the vmcc as I have British bikes as well.

Just out of interest Roy, how does the agreed value work?. The reason I ask is that I know of 1 person that had to have an Engineers Assessment to get the agreed value validated, which he had to pay a load of money for and another chap who had an agreed value on his policy and when he had to have a claim due to some plank in a car pulling out on him and wrecking the bike totally, the insurance company wrote the bike off as NOS parts were no longer available to rebuild and in the end only paid him out about 10% of the agreed value . So, I was thinking I would have an agreed values policy for my bikes this year but, does it really do what is says on the policy?.

I've been with Footman James for quite a few years, they have no problem recognizing the CB750.
The only issue is the agreed value, if its 5K+ they may? require an assessment

Do these clubs only cover "Vintage" Bikes, & on agreed value ?

I have the CB750K6 as you know but I have a 2013 Thruxton & 2013 RE 535 GT.

I know Carol Nash are now doing a "Ride Policy" that will cover all 3 bikes with or without agreed valuations..
Not had a quote yet for all 3 on that kind of policy, but the Honda last year was  £118 agreed value with CN.

Cant really answer some of the questions as I just don't know. But I have 2 CB750F2's and a CB350F through Footman-James as a VMCC member. I think that the clubs have provided guidance on restored and unrestored values, so if you agree on or below that value they don't query it. But that was what a club member said and I didn't verify it as they agreed my estimates? Cant comment on the payout on total loss as I have never had a claim. But all three were less than £70 per year and VMCC membership was £37. If like me you use the VMCC shop you get a really good members discount there as well. Hope that helps.
