dating cert
« on: April 13, 2016, 10:41:16 PM »
I know this comes up quite a bit.but I just want to know what other people have found as I have heard differing scenarios.
I have a little z50a to register it's a uk bike..and I need a dating cert..
I've used vjmc before successfully but I have heard recently that dvla have refused them. .
So do I go with honda uk straight away even though I've heard they can be quite unhelpful and slow at times..

Opinions please
Cheers

yes, thats all they asked me for,and in a couple of weeks, you will get an ordinary letter,on Honda letterhead with all your
info

but you will need to frame and glaze it !!!!

not to mention hang it in a place of honour,

BTW,

if you have a 3 in one colour printer, its a good idea to colour copy it,
you can then send the copies off,as they should be a perfect colour copy

Letter back from honda uk today.
Sadly they are unable to help on this occasion. .....what?
I only asked for a date...If I give the vin number to any parts dealer they will tell me the year ..surely they know the year .I understand they may not have an exact build date...ffs
Still next stop vjmc

The first time I applied I got a letter back saying it had not been possible to identify my motorcycle from their archives or computer systems.
It went on to say that 'Any dating letter/certificate must be sought from the vehicle manufacturer in the first instance'.
Well, I thought that was what I had been trying to do, not sure who they thought had built my 400/4.
At this point I wasn't even 100% sure mine was a UK bike so went down the VJMC route and got a letter from them which was accepted by DVLA.
In the middle of last year, now convinced mine was a UK bike, I decided to try Honda again and this time got a letter from them and a build date of 16 March 1977.
This letter even had a name and a direct dial phone number on it - the first one was presumably from some random jobsworth who was going to remain anonymous.
Woodside - I can give you the details if you think it might help.

Hi Chris
Yeah go on pm me the details and i will follow this up.
I must admit I have always used vjmc
The avatar bike was just dated as 1975 and that is all that is on the v5...no days or months just 1975
