Project Board / M-unit
« on: August 21, 2016, 12:44:49 AM »
Hi all, I'm thinking of using a m-unit I know that some of you have used these units so before I blow my budget on something I could do without I've a few questions for those who have.

Is it worth the cost?
Do I need to change to a solid state regulator?
Is the m- button worthy of an upgrade?
How much cable did you loose?

Thanks to all

Steve

CB750 / Bottom of the engine issue
« on: August 17, 2016, 09:22:45 PM »

Flipped the engine over tonight to clean it in prep for painting and came across this.
2 questions first what is it and second is it right?  It looks a bit wrong.

Just sanding down the engine and found the reason for some very heavy gloss

CB750 / CB750 f2 engine colour
« on: July 21, 2016, 03:34:27 PM »
So I'm moving along with the build and while waiting for some bits and pieces (and still practicing my Mig welding so I can weld the loop on) I thought I'd tackle the engine. Over the years it has been brushed painted gloss black on the gearshift side, sump and half the oil filter, the other side has a polished generator cover. The top end is sprayed in satin black.
As I'm going scrambler brat look I was thinking of a satin black all over but what was the original?
Thanks.

Project Board / Seat base
« on: July 17, 2016, 11:40:05 PM »
Hi all, going to start making th seat base soon and wanted to ask for ideas. Thinking of using 2mm steel or 3mm aluminium. Then there was the thought of a polly nylon kind of material. Then today I saw the old original seat unit that is in quite good shape which I was going to sell as the cover is 8/10 the unit 7.5/10, but as it's just sitting there ready to be used.
Any ideas or thought ?

Thanks.

CB750 / Recommend chain and sprocket kits. F2
« on: July 13, 2016, 02:09:34 PM »
Hi all,
I've just finished the wheel reverb and will start the wheels rebuild next week.
On the strip down I noticed that the rear sprocket was in really good order as was the very heavy 630 chain but the front sprocket looked like a load of shark fins.
As its a rebuild I'm going to push the boat out and buy a full set, I've seen the busters deal which to be honest is the best price I've found, has anyone got a better deal or should I leave the busters one alone and spend the extra on a different set. And do I have to go 630 chain again?

Has anyone got pics of the wheels being rebuilt? as like a nob head I stripped them down that long ago (December) that I can't for the life of me remember how it went.

Thanks.
Steve.

CB750 / Cb750 f2 k4 engine bolts and ideas
« on: June 24, 2016, 01:57:17 PM »
Hi all, I've been and done that thing when you're doing a complete strip down and rebuild then you get stuck on a part walk away to think about and don't go back till someone asks"how's the build going?"
Well I'm back still got the same problem but now I'm going to ask you all for some help.
I want to ditch the massive rear set brackets in place of an aftermarket one but by doing this the long engine bolts that go through the frame are way too long and as there're shouldered bolts I was wondering if the bolts from a k4 or other would fit and solve this first problem.
Also due to costs and time I was thinking of giving it a rat look! Thoughts and ideas gladly accepted.
Thanks all.

Project Board / Linking the brakes????
« on: March 07, 2016, 07:03:38 PM »
Hi all. Just thinking out loud but I'm struggling a bit with where how and how much! This is all to do with ditching the original rearsets on my cb750 sohc f2. Yozzers build has been an inspiration so now I want to do something a bit different as we all do with custom builds, but don't know if it will work well or even be safe, so I've been thinking about different ideas and this is the latest mad one.
Getting rid of the rear brake pedal and linking the rear caliper to the front lever with a splitter and braided lines. I do realise that bleeding it will be a bit of a nightmare.
Let the comments commence.

CB750 / Green stuff in the carbs!!
« on: February 05, 2016, 10:12:35 AM »
Hi all,

Anyone know what this is and what to do. It looks like algae but there was fuel in the chambers. Bike would start but not run. Knew it was a carb issue but this green has me scratching my head.
Thanks.
Steve.

CB750 / Banjos and nipples
« on: February 02, 2016, 07:57:16 PM »
Hi all,

Sorry if the title made you look here for for some thing else.
Can anyone tell me the size of the banjo bolts and nipples as i need to order some new ones and I don't  own a thread pitch guide?

I've got a 1978 CB750 sohc f2.

Also does anyone know if you can get a reducer for the rear master cylinder where the hose attaches as the original is 12mm diameter and the new stuff is a lot smaller. Ideas?

Thanks. Steve.

Hi all,

I'm going to be fitting cone filters and a non stock exhaust to my 1978 F2 sohc, so will have to re-jet, because i dont know what size I need and there will be some swearing and messing, can any one point me in the direction of a Uk supplier of a jetting kit  with several sizes in?

Any tips or tricks would come in handy.

thanks again

Project Board / Fuel tank
« on: January 16, 2016, 10:12:43 AM »
Hi all, I'm looking for info about changing my tank ( the same one I spent about 10 hours stripping and polishing):(
As I'm making a tracker the tank on my 750 f2 has the gap at the back and I'm after one that goes down to the frame as the seat unit I'm making is flat and low. My question is, what tank will fit my requirements and would a tank from a 125/200 be too small. While I'm at it has anybody got a suitable tank.
Thanks again. Steve.

You can see my tank on my other post my cb750
