CB750 / swingarm help
« on: December 24, 2015, 08:25:15 PM »
Hi all, only me again,

I've just cleaned my rear swingarm ready for powder coating and I know one of the bushes needs replacing so was going to do both but I've just seen that I'm missing the pivot thrust bush (don't remember removing it) and one of the rear fork felt rings is in a bad way, can anyone tell me where I can get these parts and any tips on removing the old ones.

thanks, Steve

CB750 / thanks and shock bushes
« on: December 14, 2015, 08:42:58 PM »
Hi all, firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all who replied to my last post and gave me great advice on removing the engine. Did it tonight and it went a dream. thanks.

I need to get two new shocks and the bushes that go into the swingarm, do any of you know where I can get the bushes from or the part number, and has anyone brought the shocks that are on ebay for my 78 f2 £59.99? they seems like a good buy.

Thanks

steve

Misc / Open / MOT rules
« on: December 12, 2015, 01:46:39 PM »
Hi all, I'm in the process of changing my CB750 F2 into a scrambler/tracker and so will be changing the rear end by getting rid of as much stuff and weight on the back as possible. Is there anyone out there who knows the MOT rules for how much of the rear tyre is allowed to hanging out the back and how much should be covered?
Also does it have to be a mud guard or can you use the number plate to make up the difference?

Thanks, Steve

CB750 / front disc removal, twin disc cb750 F2
« on: December 09, 2015, 05:35:28 PM »
Hi all, I'm in the process of a complete strip down so I can get all the bits that need doing powder coated, herein I've come across a bit of a pig. I've removed the one front disc but how do I get the speedo bit off the axle to remove the other disc?
I know I'm going to kick myself when I find out but for now I'm stumped and feeling a little stupid.

Thanks in advance

CB750 / rear sets and controls sohc CB750 f2
« on: December 06, 2015, 08:17:11 PM »
Ok so I've picked it up and she's a bit of a mess, all brakes are seized the carbs are leaking fuel out where the air comes in (think the float is stuck) but I already understand the attraction. Although the battery electric container is a confusing mess.
I've started the strip down as I'm going to redo the frame as it quite pitted, but I was wondering weather any of you had replaced the rear sets by removing the massive brackets and using aftermarket rear sets. I looked at UK Pete fantastic café racer and will go that way if I cant sus it out.
also the controls have had it so I'm going to update those too, so anyone got any ideas or tips they can share?

Thanks, steve.

New Member Introductions / pick it up sunday
« on: December 01, 2015, 04:54:05 PM »
Hi all,
been away from bikes for 6 years, crashed my duke and walked away to new things, but the yearning came back so I've got rid of the pocket rockets (last three bikes were Kawasaki ZX6R ninja, Yamaha R6 and a Ducati 749S) and have fallen for the cb750 sohc.
The one I could afford was the 1978 F2 and I want to turn it into a café racer/scrambler  so a load of bits will be finding there way to ebay or here.
I've been reading a lot of the posts here and someone said that the carbs this model came with are a bit rubbish, the guy I'm buying it of has told me its running bish and the carbs need doing so my question is do I buy a carb kit from David Silver or change the carbs, if a change is best which ones should I get?

Thanks for the help and for the site, looks a good place to learn.

Ill post pics when I collect her.
