I was hoping for a straightforward commissioning but it appears the carbs are sticking. I've disconnected the pushme pullyou cables on the carb side hoping it was the cables at fault but when lifting the ramp about a quarter way up, the carbs stick when releasing the ramp then snap down. I've had a good scan with my failing eyesight to check nothing is holding them back but all looks OK to me.....any ideas out there?
Also as the bike has not been run for some time, would it be wise to have them ultrasonically cleaned and set up correctly? I'm over in the UK on 6th to 16th November so I could bring them over with me. Any specialists here who could help?

My 400 carb sliders were gummed up completely solid after standing for a number of years.
I released mine by thorough cleaning with mainly petrol when stripped down though I did use some acetone spray initially. One slider that was solid took two days before it moved.
If its as you describe yu might be able to release it with a two pronged approach.
1) Add injector cleaner into fresh SUL petrol. (Discard what was in the tank)
2) Spray the sliders with Carb Cleaner spray both static and when running.
If this fails - full strip & clean.

Sprayed loads of brake cleaner while opening and closing the throttle on the sliders and cams then reinstalled the rubber covers, started sticking slightly so cleaned the interior of the rubbers.....now all good :)
I'll try and get the bike started before leaving for Blighty......if the carbs require a full strip, clean and fettling, who would be the best person to contact?

Yourself with an ultrasonic, you will take more care of them just clean and reuse all the original brass internals
