Title: Decals
Post by: allankelly1 on May 24, 2021, 07:22:59 PM
Hi all

Hope you are all well

Just finishing off my tank and side panel refurb

Now got a question please

Got tank and side panel decals to do next once I am 100% happy with the paint job and wondered for the tank decals do you lacquer the tank decals locally or lacquer the whole tank

Also I guess the side panels are fully lacquered due to the small size

Any advice welcome and many thanks in advance

Best wishes Al

On mine I lacquered the whole tank and side panels in petrol resistant lacquer.

You need to lacquer the whole tank or it will stand out like a sore thumb  ;)

I always 'Scotch' the whole tank lightly, then apply the decals and follow that with a good 2 pack petrol resistant UV stable lacquer.  Best have a word with the local body shop who will be happy do it or just advise.  If you don't key the surface, you run the real risk of peeling later.

Hi all thanks for the advise

Ok I think I will lightly scotch the side panels and do the decals and clear coat on these  first then move onto tank

Again many thanks to all

Best wishes Al

Slightly off topic - what front fork/front/brake set - up are you running on that ?

Hi

Forks discs and calipers are off a cb400n super dream but with 50mm removed from the stanchions as standard cb400n are too long

Also hub is an original CB400F hub so I can run a standard spoked wheel but the discs are drilled and spaces added to fit the super dream discs

Lastly running a super dream  speedo drive but fitted the CB400F hub with a custom speedo drive as with this change speedo drive is in. The opposite side

The brake lines look nice, who made those up?

Also the headlight bracket look good as well, someone on here looking for a decent set so some details on those would be good. They look well made.
Hi

Brake lines are Venhill

The headland bracket was from eBay

And the horn set up is pure RD350LC with a custom printed horn cover

Best wishes Al
