CB750 / CB750 RE-TORQUE CYLINDER HEAD
« on: May 26, 2023, 08:39:39 PM »
Hi, after a full rebuid of my CB750 and having run it in, I would now like to check the torque on the cylinder head nuts. Can this be done with engine in frame, that is can the cam cover be removed in frame and all 16-nuts accessed. Got a feeling it can't be done. Grateful for advise from those that know.

CB750 / CB750 Oil Pan Cramper Cord
« on: September 01, 2021, 09:45:05 AM »
The parts list for my 1970 CB750 K0 shows a 'Cramper Cord', part number 32111300000, associated with the oil pan.

Grateful if someone could tell me it's purpose and to which of the oil pan bolts it fits?

CB750 / CB750 K0 Piston to Bore Clearance
« on: April 26, 2021, 03:29:59 PM »
Sorry if this has been listed before. In rebuilding my 1970 CB750, I've gone for 0.50 mm oversize pistons. What is the correct piston to bore clearance?

CB750 / CB750K GREASING REAR SWINGING ARM
« on: March 22, 2020, 10:25:36 PM »
Despite my age, I'm not familiar with grease points. Having 'borrowed' a grease gun from my Dad and read the Owner's Manual, How much grease should be applied to the two swinging arm joints? I've pushed 3-squirts of the gun into each, Is that too much? What happens if you put too much in? Where will it come out? I don't want to grease the rear tyre!!!

When there are no more questions, then you will have the answer.

CB750 / CAN'T FIND NEUTRAL WHEN HOT
« on: March 14, 2020, 01:21:01 PM »
Hi All,

It is usually very difficult if not impossible to select neutral on my 1970 CB750 K0 when hot or properly up to temperature. No problem when cold or warming up. Clutch seems fine, correct play before de-engaging, no drag when fully depressed. Could this be a selector problem or am I looking at a gearbox overhaul?

All advice appreciated.

CB750 / 1970 CB750 BATTERY WARNING DECAL
« on: December 12, 2019, 11:20:10 AM »
I don't think the USA 1970 CB750 came with a battrery warning label and that they first appeared on the K1. I could be wrong - there's always a first time  ;). If so, perhaps one of you knowledgeable Gents or Ladies would identify the correct design and location (Inner rear mudguard, top of frame or elsewhere).

CB750 / CB750 K0 SWINGING ARM STICKER/DECAL
« on: November 22, 2019, 10:27:29 PM »
I'd be grateful if anyone could help me find a NOS sticker/decal for the swinging arm of my 1970 CB750 K0. It should sit atop the right side arm warning against modifying the exhaust - as if we would. Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but it seems the correct sticker should read "This Honda exhaust system is designed to eliminate excessive noise..........", whilst the items on ebay read: "This Honda exhaust system is a manufactured single unit designed to eliminate excessive noise.............". I have ask DS, but no luck.

Yes I am picky, grateful for any help.

CB750 / K0 CORRECT MIRRORS
« on: November 05, 2019, 08:52:34 PM »
When did the handle bar mirrors change from Acorn nut adjustment to friction swivel ball? The Parts Catalogue indicates that all K0s had Acorn nuts, but maybe it was only the early models? Mine is a May 1970, Frame No 1036***.

CB750 / K0 CORRECT DATE OF MANUFACTURE
« on: October 15, 2019, 06:41:18 PM »
Can anyone please help me identify when my bike was manufactured. Unfortunately the VIN plate on the steering head has been removed - maybe for respray, It's a K0 with frame number 10369**. I think it would be around May 1970. Perhaps there is a listing of frame numbers and dates out there or I'd be very grateful, if someone with a similar frame number and intact VIN would advise.

CB750 / TORQUEING REAR AXLE
« on: October 11, 2019, 01:35:55 PM »
Does anyone know, if the rear axle bolt can be torqued up without removing silencers/mufflers #3 and #4?

The 24 mm axle nut has a torque setting of 58 – 72 Ft/Lbs, which in itself calls for significant leverage and more than an open ended spanner.

However, I have found that with the silencers supported and the pillion foot peg/ silencer support withdrawn the additional space around the rear axle nut is still insufficient to fit a socket or a crowfoot spanner/wrench and attach the torque wrench.

As the axle nut must be regularly accessed to make drive chain adjustments, surely there is a technique to set the torque with silencers in place?

CB750 / Correct Front Wheel Hub K0
« on: October 04, 2019, 02:30:17 PM »
I’m hoping that my CB750 K0 has the correct front wheel fitted.

According to Service Bulletin #26 the width of the front wheel hub was reduced by 4mm for the K1.

My front hub is 65mm when measured across the outside of the top flanges as shown in the attached photo.

If I have the correct wider hub, then a similar measurement on a K1, k2 etc. should be 69mm.

Grateful if anyone would confirm.

CB750 / CB750 K0 Front Sprocket Case Protector
« on: October 01, 2019, 03:48:49 PM »
According to John Wyatt, my 1970 CB750 K0 (Engine Number 1036****) should be fitted with a case protector (Part No: 11353 300 010) around the front drive sprocket, but it isn’t. Apparently, the front sprocket cover was modified at E1026144 to accept the case protector. I’m thinking my sprocket cover may be from an earlier bike, though I can’t find any pictures to show how they differ. Grateful if any of you could enlighten me.

CB750 / Oil Tank Connections
« on: September 17, 2019, 03:27:47 PM »
Hi, On my 1970 CB750 K0 I’m confused about two connections to the oil tank, these are the smaller connections at the top and back. Removing the tool tray reveals the top connection, which points up and is bent back over. The other is hidden below and points down. They are shown on a diagram of the lubrication system (attached), which includes a cut-away view of the oil tank, revealing that they both connect to a ‘mini-tank’ within the main oil tank. I’d be grateful for definitive advice on where these points should be connected to. I suspect the top is connected via rubber tube to the crankcase breather and that the lower may be for the rocker cover breather or to atmosphere.
