Rejuvenating and old post maybe but anyone any tips for stopping the carb hoses from seemingly welding themselves to the petcock petcock outlet tubes. Seems they will slide on easily and the be an absolute bastard to get off a few weeks later.
I think I tried Vaseline but that wasn’t much help once.
I guess I need some lubricant that does not get eaten away by petrol

I use a trace of silicone grease, perhaps you could also use brake grease? Neither attack rubber.

Petcock ? Its a fuel tap and they should stick to the outlets, that how they don't leak. To easy get the pipes off, there is a little tool that you clamp to the pipe and turn ;)

Never had that problem. I should add I've abandoned those little clamps since decades.

Guys, I fully understand your feelings... Looks I'm not the only one having this issue - I had to change leaking pectock on my CB550K1 back in April, from dual outlet to single outlet so I had to manage hoses split into 2, used T splitter and piece of U shaped copper tube for 1 line, it went on it easily, I was even afraid it will leak - after 4 months of use I spent 30mins using tiny screwdrivers and WD40 to remove hose from this copper tube >:(, I almost cut hose being so frustrated, but it would mean to install new one that would be even more difficult...
Now have dual outlet replica petcock from 4into1, but seems it is leaking too... :(

Petcock ? Its a fuel tap and they should stick to the outlets, that how they don't leak. To easy get the pipes off, there is a little tool that you clamp to the pipe and turn ;)
Intersting - would you mind to share some info about that tool?

As Trigger's post, if you twist them it releases the bond before moving them downward.
But if you want something to try, consider sudocream as it'll leave zinc oxide there to stop the rubber bonding.

Do not push them all the way on leave a little room at the end so you can get some narrow nose pliers across the end and use them to push the pipe off as against pulling on the pipe. If you just try to pull the pipe it just ends up working like one of those Chinese finger cuffs you had as a kid. Like Trigger said twist the pipe first.

Didn't work in my case. Hose was nearly 1 inch on copper tube no movement at all, was like welded

If mine sticks I just insert a screwdriver and twist, when I put it back on I lubricate it with a little fuel.

I really think the only lubricant you'll find reliable for this is....Elbow Grease! ;D
