Hi,
Asking on behalf of a mate....Has anyone got a cam chain tensioner for a '78 CJ250T or knows where one might be available? He tells me he is struggling to find some spares for his restoration. Is there interchangeability between this and other models?
Many thanks
Rick

Hi has your mate tried David Silver Spares?, or CMSNL in Holland?, cheers Mick.

Wasn't this the last iteration of the CB250G5 before the Dream engines arrived?
If so, use the extra search terms as the G5 was far more numerous (almost said "popular" there for a minute!)

Same as this Steve,(http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee75/mcpuffett/img026.jpg)

Very many thanks for your replies, I will pass them on.

My recollections from running a CB360 G5 as a student in the 70's is that most of the cycle parts and electricsare interchangeable between G5, CJ and 400/4s.
The CJs were down spec'd slightly from the G5: less chrome, five speed gearbox rather than six, and no electric start.
The footrests were moved back to improve riding position, so rear brake and gear levers are different as well.
That made them a little lighter though [And a little faster if the owners were to be believed!]. ::)
The engines are interchangeable as a lump between the 250 and 360, but the the 360 is stroked as well as overbored so the crank is different. The con rod little end dia is also bigger on the 360 and the head has a squish ring machined into it to suit the bigger bore. The 360 has a bigger size of carbs too.
I was told the pistons from a CB350 K4 could be made to fit the 250 G5 with an overbore to 325cc, but never tried that for myself.
