CB750 / self generating ignition
« on: December 01, 2018, 09:28:39 PM »
Hi guys. still on with my cr750 build and looking for some advice on the ignition system. Currently, the bike still has the standard rotor and stator but I really don't want to have a battery and have no wish to have an electric start or for that matter lights. I already have a boyer 2 and coils fitted so buying a complete new electrex seems a bit overkill and having spoken to them, they don't want to sell me the stator/ rotor only as they tell me it wont work. They supply the same electronic ignition and coils as I have on the bike ?????? Anyone got any suggestions as to fitting a system with a permanent magnet / stator from another Honda. As far as my limited knowledge goes I only need to supply power or im I being a bit thick?

CB750 / cam chain tensioner
« on: October 27, 2018, 05:13:10 PM »
Me again...already. Have I read somewhere that a popular modification to some racing cb750s is to fit the cb450 black bomber cam chain tensioner unit due to it being a much better design and being more reliable. Its evidently a straight swap but Iv heard that before. If anyone has done this or tried how did it work out, any pitfalls to watch for.

CB750 / carb size queery
« on: October 27, 2018, 04:15:42 PM »
New to the forum so heres my first question for all you experts. As I recall, a 1973 cb750 was fitted as standard with 28mm carbs. When I measure mine there 30.5mm at the head side of the throat. Am I measuring the wrong place or have they been changed or modified. They look standard but I think every other part of the motor has been played with which is making me wonder. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

New Member Introductions / back to a cb750
« on: October 26, 2018, 08:56:45 PM »
Hi guys, just a quick post to say HELLO and introduce myself. The names Mark but most call me Scoot. Getting on a bit now but as an x racer, I still love a quick sweet handling bike so after building and selling many café racers I thought it was time to build one for myself. I had an F1 back in 1976 which I kept for a while, but as I also had a gl1000 it ended up in someone else's garage. I have now found a very nice, although not standard cb750 k3 which I am building as a cr750 replica ( no not another " Dick Mann" rep) but a Jim Redman style one.
On a personal note, I live in the co Durham area, Im 60 going on 18 and according to my wife " I don't snore, I dream im a motorbike"
I am a reasonable mechanic but im a bit out of touch with the cb 750 so please bear with me when I start asking for advice.
