Been watching a few bikes on Ebay over the past few months.

Can't understand why people are having bidding wars when there are days and days to go before the auction ends.

All it does is push the price up, great for the seller but not the bidders.

One I was watching recently, 6 days to go, 2 people out bidding each other, whats the point?

Am I missing something?

No you're not. Stops you getting in with that last 10 second bid. I think what can happen is someone bids big early and then people start fishing to see how high they went. Obviously not poker players. Keep the cards close to the chest and Slam them down. I bid 10 seconds to early on my CB400 exhausts and it cost me £60 extra. :'(

Still, The carburettor rebuild is nearly complete. All the carbs have been scrapped scrubbed and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner, tops and bowls polished, new jets needles and seals fitted and reassembled. Then Disassembled as the light dawned on the missing spring. A manual set up bench set up to get it as close as possible to factory and then should be able to get a start. One tip I could pass on. I managed to rescue the floats but the pins were of course ruined. I bought a 2mm model makers brass rod from fleabay for £2.99 for 200mm and cut my own pins rather than pay £2.50 each for them. Still got enough for another rebuild  ;D. Got my eyes open for a set of Vacuum gauges but in no hurry.

👍. Are you on your hands and knees looking for it somewhere on the floor?
No Found the ball bearing on the workbench. Never found the spring. Managed to re-purpose one from some bmw bits I had left over.  8)

Nice workshop ! When can i move in  ;D ;D ;D
Me Too. All it needs is messing up and a few more bikes. Maybe a few tools scattered about,  Oil stains on the floor. BEER FRIDGE and then its a perfect workshop  ;D.
I am feeling serious bike/workshop envy though.  8)

What Julie said.

Another drawback with pod filters is having to protect them from water ingress when you wash the bike.

Or if its raining hard

CB350/400 / pods or oem air filter
« on: September 30, 2018, 07:27:47 PM »
Hi people, I was wondering whether there is any advantage to using Pods rather than the OEM air filter. They look quite cool but I'm not sure either way. by the way should the OEM air filter housing have a lid. I don't have one on mine.

Really depends on what you want Ricardo. If you are going for a restoration and you want chrome wheels the're not that expensive to buy. Probably better to buy old ones from ebay rather than trying to strip the others back.

Hi guys,

nowadays due to health, terrible roads here, traffic from hell and having the attention span of a goldfish any bikes are just an ornament that I pass the time of day buggering about with. It's in the blood.

Welcome Steve, If you need someone to take the 500 for a run........

Seriously you will find it easier to handle that the Harley plow puller. Remember your retired and take it out when its quiet. Plenty of lovely b roads in your region.

Hi Jorge, I have a super sport too. If yours has stood as long as mine had you might find the carbs are seized if the fuel wasn't removed first. Also most of the rubber will be perished. Its not a cheap project, but it really depends on how it was left and why it was left. The way it was stored has a great bearing on the amount of work required. Put up some pictures and maybe start a thread on the project board.

Welcome to the nuthouse
