Post by: fazer1k on September 24, 2009, 03:43:10 PM
Does anyone know if the 400/4 spoked wheels will fit straight onto a CB550K3 ?

Thanks,

Wheels yes brakes no

Thanks Bryan, so the front wheel will require a CB550 specific brake disc ? And the rear hub requires a different drum ?

Doesn't the 400 have an 18" front wheel?

550 = 19"

EDIT: Yep, just looked in the book. The 400/4 has an 18" front.

Thanks Steve, that info will save me a few quid and a wasted trip to collect them.

I'd check number of bolts holding the front disk on too.............

Guess that would be 4 bolts.......had the spoke wheels in mind for a longer term replacement of the comstars  :)

Hmm, wonder if the CB400/4 wheel hubs could be used as a basis for rebuilds (new rims/spokes) to 19" front and 18" rear, maybe still an option....

There are 6 bolts on a cb550 hub to attach disk, I'd geuss that cb400/4 whhels have more in common with cb250 wheels from the sound of it (disk diameter and offset?). Keep looking and some correct cb550 wheels may well surface. Don't be put off by cracked rear hub liners though, it's a bit of a pain but not inpossible to put in new linings if you have a lathe or someone in huddersfield re-lines them for
