The standard bolt head refused to budge and has now rounded off, even tried a bolt removal socket (Silverline) but just made it worse.
Have now got a nice 17mm replacement bolt from Wemoto to avoid future issues !
So can I drill the old one out safely without causing more damage, anyone tried this before or used other removal methods ?

I also need to replace the tyres on my K3 (with comstar wheels), was going for BT45s but now not so sure, decisions.....
Assuming comstar wheels are normally a tubeless fitment ?

Well I may very well have sold you that bike as I worked there in sales from when it opened -I think 1977 till about 1982.
The owner was Mike Harrington and I remember I worked with a guy called John #@%$ - who died last November
from bowel cancer I have just found out.
Anyway from further research on the CMSNL.com website there was a CB500K3 FOUR (EUROPEAN DIRECT SALES)
which has the center lock and idiot lights - I guess towards the end of the CB500 life they had to raid the parts bin.
Did you do the restoration on the bike in the pic - By the way how much did you get for that beautiful mint 550/K3?

The more I get into this restoration thing it appears people get carried away thinking they can just "do up a shed", yet you can buy mush better bikes for similar or often less money. Case in point here. Hope the successful bidder is not reading this site!!!
Just been to the Classic bike show at Stafford on Sunday. Similar thing going off there it seems looking at the autojumble / junkyard!!

Scary.
Do you put 42lbs in your tyres? I usualy run at 28 front and 32 rear unless I have a passenger in which case I put the rear up to 34.
Perhaps I should start a different thread?
This was a question I meant to ask a while ago, currently running at 32 front and 36 rear on my 550K3, guess I should let some air out of the tyres ?? What is the general view on correct pressures (solo) ?

Had a great day at the Ace, was good to meet Daz and UK Pete and the rain stayed away. A fair turnout of bikes with a real mixture of just about everything from the 70's (Z1s, Kettles, Jotas, Guzzis, Moto Morini 3.5, Fantics (!) and plenty of Honda fours of course) - Pete may post some pictures soon (cheers Pete)

Well after much swearing and brute force managed to get the new Motad fitted today, it's not perfect but good enough for now - at least I can ride the bike again !
Was tempted to bid for that original K3 4/4 that came up on eBay the other day, looked in good condition and went for around

Happy days ! Closest I got (2 stroke wise) was a Suzuki T500 and Yamaha RD350, dreamt of trying/buying a Kawasaki 500 or 750 but never had the funds....one day perhaps They seem like great investments at the moment, better than keeping your money in the bank ! Checkout this months Classic Motorcycle Mechanics...
