Title: Tank sealer
Post by: heliwilly on November 14, 2018, 07:13:03 AM
Hi All,
Just wondering how easy/hard it is to remove old tank sealer. The one I bought hasn't been cleaned out properly and the sealant has peeled and the metal has rusted underneath. What would the cost be to get it removed? Is it a DIY proposition?  I have the option to return the tank to the seller?
Any advice appreciated. Bill W.

Save yourself a big headache and return the tank to the seller  ;)

It is a pretty difficult and possibly hazardous to remove liners as the chemicals involved can be volatile and toxic. Depends on what the liner is. If it's Kreem, I think acetone will dissolve it (along with any paint). Many tanks from the States were lined unnecessarily, because of fear of corrosion was whipped up.
If you also want a professional paint finish, you could send it to Menno as I think the brew they dip it in out there will dissolve it.

I would return it and look for another. :)

Thanks for the information.
I will contact the seller and ask for a full refund.
Thanks Bill W.

If you bought it via ebay and it was not as described, then request a postage label from the seller  ;)

Like Trigger says.....Return it to the Seller quoting 'Item is NOT as described'.

The Seller should then agree to accept the return, issue you with a Returns Label....and issue a refund.

I have just done a Return last week as the parts were described as fitting a T120 but when I received them it was obvious that they were not 'as described'.

Good luck.......just follow the E Bay procedure and you'll be OK.
