Thtas the newer style unobtainable collar but you can fit the earlier one

Used a lot on older car style, Its there to help push the oil ring out to the cylinder wall which the centre bit on the 3 piece does as well but the thin side bits scrape the oil better than the big thick ring.

That No3 is the little rubber bung between the fins

Maybe it has had a later replacement on one side, the early ones have a threaded rod between the top nut and damper which the later ones dont, also the tubes and dampers changed, early will come out the bottom later have to go upwards

« on: February 17, 2016, 07:10:54 AM »
The only way the numbers can match is
(1) its a Ringer
(2) the crankases were replaced and whoever did it stamped the wrong numbers into it

I would want detailed pictures of both stamped numbers and then at leat three decimal points knocked off cos its orrible

Or if the one declared 79 was re reg due to lost paperwork the person dating it got it wrong, which was quite common as a lot of them used the same microfiche details which i proved was incorrect for the 500's

The ones you take out will be binned anyway so just beat them out with a long drift and hammer but do it evenly all the way round
