Title: Top yoke washers.
Post by: Johnny4428 on October 16, 2020, 12:01:44 PM
Hi, sorry this is probably old ground but can anybody confirm the thickness of the d washers in the top yoke clamp?
Also is their just one size for all models that require these?

Thanks Ash, most helpful. Will probably have to fabricate something as no longer available.

If your top yoke bolt holes are 7mm with 7mm bolts then, you don't require them  ;)

And they are ready available.

So without me getting the top yoke out of storage for my 500k2, does my model need them Graham? (I know you will know from the top of your head!).

Relaying messages here 🙄🙄🙄He hasn't got hasn't got a clue Phil, he's never had a 500/4 K2. He says you need to check to make sure your top yolk is a K2 and if it is, measure the bolt size or the hole size.

The top yoke was modified at some point to have smaller holes and bolts with no D washers and the later type was the supplied as a spare for all of them from a date i cant remember so you need to check the size of the hole and the bolt not matter what year the bike is

Don't believe everything you read Ash and how do you know that it still has a early K2 yoke fitted  ;)

It’s M8 Bolt’s and the previous owner tried the top yoke with no washers. You can guess the result of that.😡

I used a couple of washers that that were for the crankcase main bearings off a 500 and cut the edge off as a temporary measure. They are about 2.4mm thick. Can't remember head washers may be the same.
