Title: cb550 1983 nighthawk exhaust on a cb550 1977. any probllems ?

does any one know of any problems putting a cb550 nighthawk exhauset on a earler model ? [a cb550 1977]

the rear mounting bracket isnt an issue if it doesnt match up but the down pipes sizes and the way it fits to the engine . are they the same ?. any help please let me ??? know .

Dont think they come anywhere close as nighthawk is a DOHC isn't it?

Double Overhead Camshafts.

The CB550 is a single overhead camshaft engine so the engines are completely different.

DOHC - double overhead cams. I think Brian's right about the nighthawk being a twin cam, I'd geuss the cylinder centers distance would be similar and diameter of pipes but really it's an unknown experiment as to whether the pipes will fit.
