Title: Nice looking 350/4 on auto trader
Post by: andy120t on February 05, 2022, 02:38:58 PM
Nice little 350/4 on auto trader if anyone is looking for one. (It's nothing to do with me!) I can't make the link work though.. Price looks OK to me, but I'm happy to be told otherwise!

What happened to the rule that says you can’t have a registration that implies the vehicle is younger than it is?

Looks like a nice bike, but the advert registration date ( 2002 52 reg) doesn't match the number plates 1972.

Thats because it was REGISTERED by DVLA in UK in 2002 but BUILT by Honda in 1972

Still, must be irritating having a 52 plate on a classic bike.

Well that's a coincidence Steve,
I was always under that impression too - and it outlines that fact on their own 'personalised registration' site.

Back in 2003 I bought a 1991 Anniversary edition GoldWing 1500SE Jap import.  When I came to register it they gave it an 'L' prefix 94 plate as it had remained unsold and therefore unused until that date.  I argued back then with them but they wouldn't budge.  No problem really as I put my own 3 letter, 2 number plate on it almost immediately.
Roll on to 2021 and I decide to put my plate on another vehicle and when the V5c arrived, they had given it an M prefix - even worse!
I then got the build data from Honda (£30 please) with a DATE OF MANUFACTURE of April 1991 and sent that to DVLA with the M prefix V5c.  Today, FOUR months later, I get a new V5c with the originally issued L prefix and this new V5c clearly states date of manufacture 1994, even though Mother Honda says otherwise.
Feel like getting our MP involved but losing the will to live now - I know it's a small thing but it irritates the hell out of me at my age - the only small crumb of comfort is that I still have the L prefix plate hanging on the wall in the Shed so could fit that.

Ian
