Post by: watty51 on February 20, 2022, 12:19:21 PM
Honda Cb350f for sale. Uk registered in 2018 on a L Plate ( Imported and purchased 2013. I’ve been the only owner in the UK).
Speedo showing 14000 miles
Bike was running well up until 2020 but has not been used since. Selling due to garage conversion into bedroom. Don’t want to store the bike outside.

Bad points:
Carbs flood ( but has keihin internals ).
Will need a new battery but had good spark at the plugs.
Cb400f handlebars (ds replicas)
4 into 2 exhausts (marving from wemoto) but in excellent condition.
The tank, side panels and suspension covers sprayed in woodcote green (mgb colour) with decals from Piki.
Aftermarket switchgear and mirrors (ds replicas)

Good points:
Both wheels, mudguards the chrome is original and in very good condition.
New tyres (dunlops k82)
New piston rings with good compression.
New seat cover
Boyer Brandsdon electronic ignition.
Matching frame and engine numbers.

May just need a good recommission and will be a nice bike.

There will be a few spares to go with the bike as I need a clear out

Looks nice and tidy. A bargain for someone, especially when you compare to 400/4 prices. Good luck

Hi Mark, when you say aftermarket switch gear is it replica switch gear?, ie does it look correct on the bike?, cheers Mark.

Hi Mark.
The “new switch gear” was from Ds, and is a good match to the originals which will come with the bike as well as some other spares. See photos

Thanks Watty, I’m toying with the idea of having the bike, not sure cos my garage is already rammed with bikes but I’ll let you know once I’ve done extensive further man maths etc.

Hi Mark,

Do you want some more photos sent. This may make up your mind.
Not sure which path you want to take it: ie concours or Nice bike to ride, but if it’s a nice bike your after I dont think it would cost a lot more, in my opion.

I simply wouldnt have the front but it depends how much you need to fleece people to put dosh in the bank L suppose. I'm with you on the moral highground. .........Like none of us would check to see??

Like I say, he's got some front. Besides I dont buy to flip, I generally buy to keep unless the bank is looming and then you liquidate to clear the decks and start again later dont you?

Phil's right though, he hasnt sold it yet the cheeky get. ;D

Tbh I assumed it was priced to sell to a member here who would cherish it and keep it.

I would loved to have bought it, but just couldn’t at the moment after just completing the 750. Need a bit of financial recovery. If I had it would definitely been a keeper.

Going to hold my hand up here, I was thinking of buying it as a quick profit. But I didn't. Mainly because it was miles away from me, but didn't want to upset anyone on here. Now had it been just a few miles away, who knows. To be fair to the guy selling it, we don't know what was said at the time of purchase. If he said he wanted it for a family heirloom then he's a t**t but if not then fair play to him, make a quick profit. Okay tin hat on, INCOMING.

My late father told me that a vehicle is only worth what someone will pay for it I never found that helpful- he also said a fool and his money are soon parted - the luck is finding him/her.

I sold my Maicoletta 250 Scooter years back circa 1965/6 it cost me about £80 I had 12 months fun riding it selling it for £120.
I thought I had sold it for a good price. A couple of weeks later it was in a local bike dealers as a Star Buy priced at around £235.

I looked at my experience in a different way I had sold it at a price I was happy with at the time (I needed the cash). The bloke who bought it off me had a good bike at a fair price and either traded it in or sold it for gain. The dealer then had to offer some sort of warranty he need a gain to pay for his overheads (Big showroom on Osmaston Road) and profit to stay in business. It was in the dealers a good six months before he found a buyer.

There are no fiends in business. The bike was advertised for sale without caveat as I understand it?

I don’t think there is blame or criticism justified in this case, unless somebody misrepresented themselves and I’ve seen no suggestion or evidence of misbehaviour

I was going to buy it until my missus saw through my ‘spares’ subterfuge.

My take is if the seller sold the bike for the price he wanted there is no argument and to be fair it was for sale for a while on the forum. If only I had followed up my initial thoughts of buying it myself I could have it sitting in my garage right now but I didn’t (because I don’t have the room!) so I lost it as many of us did who were thinking about buying it.
I would however be a bit cheesed off if the person who bought it said he was going to keep it, it was a bike a bike I always wanted etc type of thing and then flipped it but we don’t know the full story and therefore cannot comment.  Normally it’s a case of buyer beware but that equally applies to the seller when it comes to anything of value and old/historic/vintage.
I have a 1981 Kawasaki Z400j for sale if anyone is interested, just saying.................. ;)
