Title: 500k Torque arm rear bolt and 550F swinging arm spindle
Post by: Oddjob on April 22, 2022, 06:11:07 PM
As I'm altering the swinging arm bearings on my 500 there is little point having the 500 spindle fitted with it's 2 grease nipples as they won't be used. Looking for a decent 550F spindle and the torque arm bolt which goes through the rear brake plate, mines seen better days so I thought I'd replace it.

Anyone?

Ok, anyone confirm the length of the 550F spindle. I have a spindle off another Honda the same diameter but I'd need to cut it down and rethread it to fit.

Need a 14mm x 1.5 die though, my Snap On die set ends at 12mm x 1.75. If anyone has a Snap On die 14mm x 1.5 they'd like to sell or lend let me know.

In case your wondering, I prefer the Snap On dies as they are 12 point nut shaped so they don't slip in the die holder like the round ones can.

Alternatively, anyone with a lathe who can rethread the spindle?

Should be, it differs from the 500/550K in that it has no grease nipple drillings on the ends of the shaft. Should be 14mm diameter and around 325mm long. Threaded end is 1.5 pitch.

Let me know if those dimensions match, happy to take it off your hands, let me know postage.

Yeah middle one looks best as the bottom seems to have thread damage.

Cheers Andy, might have found a solution to the other bolt. I'll replace it with a modified stainless steel bolt I think. Might do the same with the front bolt if it turns out ok.

Good stuff - I'm glad it's being used instead of sitting under my bench!
