Hello I need one of these which have apparently been discontinued though the associated o ring is available. Any one have an idea what torque they should be set at or if loctite is recommended.

Many thanks

Same as 500 and 750, probably 400 as well, shouls be easy to find and torque is snug
-
DS sells them bought one a while back for my 500.
-
Everywhere saying not available discontinued

The one listed for my 500 was 15331-300-000 there are three of them one of mine was badly rounded special order £16.26 took about 10 days from DS.
At a glance it looks like a 400 one.
-
There seem to be two different part numbers. Early 500 use the 331 number later the 332 used on 550 and 400. I wonder what the single digit change was for and if they are interchangeable?
Answer is here. Different hex head sizes so interchangeable👍

So plug of any sohc will do as long as it’s usable to torque up. Not worried about cosmetics as it’s hidden away and will be sprayed anyway. Anyone got one lying around ?

If its the same as a 750, I have used an alloy sump plug with thread 20x1.5.
Check if same as yours.
Added benefit, you can get ones with magnets to catch tiny particles.
750 has another 2 that go into bottom of sump.
I fitted with Dowty sealing washers.
Look OK if you get the alloy ones and not concerned about originality.

Good shout Martin, thread pitch is correct.
I found 3 of these in an old box last weekend, wasn't sure if they'd clean up ok as they all had some corrosion of the alloy, one I threw away thinking it was too bad to try and restore, but looking at how the others came out I may have been a bit hasty.

I tried to attach image of my engine with gallery plug, but did not work, so I have changed my avatar to the engine image

Just send me your address and I'll bob it in the post.
There's one on Ebay BTW, £20, plus postage IIRC. Makes you wonder how they make up these prices.
