Other Bikes / Identifying these down pipe exhausts CB500T
« on: June 04, 2011, 04:27:26 PM »
This is what the down pipe exhausts (I'm not talking about the silencer) look like on a standard CB 500T.

And these are the ones I'm looking for in matt black. Anyone have any idea where I can find the following matt black downpipes?

Appreciate that but I'm a little wary of imports, as more and more the dvla have become real arses when it comes to registering a bike in this country due to the new EU regs.

Would probably have to have a certificate of conformity and a recognisable stock bike to get it registered, never done it so don't know but I've heard of some problem cases of registering older vehicles in this country.

Nice bike. Was thinking about painting the engine black on my project, when I finally get it going.

I was told by someone it's not good to paint an air cooled engine as it reduces the engines ability to bleed heat? Is this correct?

Do you want to restore to original or build a bike to ride? I have a garage full of 500cc "Projects" in states of dissasembly that may, or may not, be levered out of my cash strapped hands. In Gloucester by the way with relatives in tupsarse.

A bike to ride, I have a cafe racer project in mind, so I'm quite happy to take a battered example (but a decent engine would be nice) as it's all going to be redone, lots of mods and a repaint.

Here is an example of a bike I was going to bid on but hadn't decided on a 500 or 550 at the time

I'm on a tight budget so 800-900 pounds or less is what I'd like to spend on the bike as I may have to put in more than that for the whole restoration/cafe idea.

Hello!

Have posted already but overlooked this section.

I regularly move about between London, Lancashire and Belgium. But soon that will be London and Lancashire only.

My username on sohc4.net is canoscan as cavell had already been taken there by someone else apparently.

Was originally interested in a project on any of the CB500/550 or 750s but I've recently given up on the 750 idea.

So still on the hunt for the other ones in average or cosmetically bad condition.

looks like an aluminium saucepan with sealed beam unit stuck in the end...what do you like about it..!!!!

It gives it an even more Deco/Retro feel I really like it!

Really love this bike and love the headlamp which I believe is not original.

1972 Honda CB500 Four Cafe Racer For Sale

Wrote to the guy on youtube, no answer. Is anyone able to identify the headlamp and where I can get it?  ;)

CB750 / Hondamatic CB750A
« on: April 16, 2011, 05:32:10 PM »
Hi everyone I'm new here, I've been interested in these bikes for a while, particularly in a project.

Does anyone know anything about the Hondamatic CB750A? How they ride compared to the manual version, just how automatic is the hondamatic is?

With the reduced bhp (at 47) what kind of MPG do you get?

How they perform? Any problems with them? Any maintenance issues?

Any info would be appreciated.
