Interchangeability / Re: CB650 comstar interchangeability

You can also look on wemoto - they have all the bearing dimensions shown, so they're a great source of info if you are mixing and matching between wheels / axles and also fif you are or mixing differnt stems/ yokes into frames.   Once you've worked out what sizes you need you can then go to all bearings (or similar) websites and see if there is an off-the-shelf bearing to fit.

Early GSXR 750 (f/g/h) ones fit - but they are getting harder to find now.
Apparently the pivot width is exactly the same, although some modifications are needed as it's a monoshock one and a bit longer too, so will need shortening. There is a thread in the US site that has this bike in, but I can't locate it just now.

This one also uses early GSXR wheels. I'm not sure what the forks and brakes are though. They aren't Slabside GSXR and the blue fork tops/ adjusters make them look a lot newer.

Cracking bike - it looks great, and it's a proper race bike too so probably goes pretty well.

Project Board / Re: CB350F Rusteration

Looks really nice. That is the sort of finish I like to see - so a bike you can use and not worry about getting wet rather than something that's over restored.

I voted 650 - but it's a 550 frame, 650 engine and 400 wheels... The engine is where the heart is!

The Bike Shed, Shoreditch High Street?

Walking Talkie building has free tickets for the top floors - amazing views. It gets booked up, but they release tickets a couple of weeks in advance... Usually on Mondays. Search for 'the sky lounge' It's in the City near Monument tube.

IWM is great, and free too! National Army Museum Chelsea used to have a WW1 bike with a sidecar and Vickers machine gun, just by the door. But it's been redeveloped so might've moved now.

I was watching some early morning TV today and saw a reference to this off-road route - which I hadn't heard of before. Not ideal for most SOHC models but some of the CL's might be able to have a go!

Just thought it might be of interest.

Out & About / Re: Unit 1 Motorcycles, Wickham Market, Oct 18

I popped in there on the way home from Woodbridge. Seemed like a friendly little bunch and happy to leave me to look around the bikes - some lovely ones that I hadn't seen for ages.  I't stucked away though, so unless you drive past it's hard to know it's there.

I love the paint colours on the 350...if only it was a CL..

A couple of years back now, but I saw a lovely CB750 in the thick of the London traffic on Fenchurch Street - and just last week a Moto Guzzi cafe racer briefly parked outside the Gherkin. By the time I came back with a plan to photo it it had gone...

It's great to see someting different out and about.

Thanks for all the replies. In the end I decided to just replace the chain with one with a split-link which I know I can fit myself. Feeble really, but it seemed the easiest route to go as I was slightly concerned about fitting the other typpe...so I was back on the road the next day!

O hadn't of looking elsewhere for a splitlink., .just assumed when Wemoto said there wasn't one that I would have to use the other type. My preference is a split link so I'll try and match up one on ebay.....should have looked there to start with. Thanks all!

Misc / Open / Recommended chain rivetter
« on: April 23, 2018, 08:32:05 PM »
Hi, does anyone know / use a chain riveter they can recommend?.....at a reasonable price. So certainly sub £50.

Initially it's for the drive chain on a Kawasaki Zx6, so a fairly beefy chain. But I also want something that will last forever and for all bikes.

Wemoto tell me that they don't do a split link anymore which is a real pain.

Also, any other ways that you've all used to fit chain rivets would be interesting to hear.
Thanks!
