Had a blast out on my age appropriate machine yesterday nice 50 miles to Burwick which is closest land to the Scottish mainland. Hell I must do something about the brakes, they are shite! Quite sure the 750 would stop in half the distance just to make a comparison. Arrived back home had a coffee and then out on the 750 to make sure it was fine after the electrical leak. Is your machine “age appropriate”? 😜

Missing from my toolkit for the 550, can get a new one but would rather get a used one if anybody by chance has one.

Went out for a blast on the 550. These machines run well when the cylinders are all singing from the same song sheet” so to speak. Had a blast, started well and shut the choke off after about 30 seconds. I can now recommend an upgrade to these pd carbs of increasing the size of the pilots. I upgraded from 42 to 45s I thought it would make a minimal difference, it’s actually made a big difference to mainly the starting and warm up period. ☺️☺️

Without boring everybody with the PD woes, I fired up the 550 today after about 6 months in winter storage and I have never had this bike so keen to start in the 35 years I have had it. Especially coming out of winter storage. I had to remove the carbs after I discovered the tank filter had a hole in it. So decided to order as I should have done earlier new pilots, instead of ordering 42’s I ordered 45’s. Also I refurbished the coils with new leads (as per the Ash blurb). But I will reserve further bragging rights in anticipation of a proper road test. Happy days! 😄
(had to close choke to keep running too after about 20 seconds running)

With the idle screw right out, and ready to set Not 2 as a bench mark, someone on here said an eighth was too much as a guide and to use a sixteenth. Is this correct? Or is it just more critical to just get them all the same.

Well I should have done this before but here goes. New ht leads to fit. Also tail light to replace with nice OEM one from Terry on forum. Get rid of inferior DS replica. New fuel tank filter to fit and new pilot jets also.

May or may not be of interest to others here. With the days starting to stretch out it’s got me thinking of better days ahead with spring, summer etc got me looking at my last years summer pics. Here’s some pics of my other bikes.
All in winter storage at the minute except the Pan.
(I have to say the C90 thing was something I had to do) (over it now)😂😂😂

Hi all, ordered some ht lead from this company, same company as I dealt with previous. There appears to be something amiss I suspect. Ordered on 18th November, emailed on 6th Dec and just tried phoning them now and no contact made. Anybody dealt or know anything about them? They are in Kineton, Warwickshire.

With the classics away now for the winter, still have this mollycoddled runabout. Quick blast out today before the rain this afternoon. Most enjoyable even at 10C.😂
