Title: Brake Caliper Screwed
Post by: Athame57 on July 11, 2019, 06:45:33 PM
Literally. When putting the brake caliper back together I noticed I was screwing the bolt that holds the metal end of the brake hose in at an angle.  :o I took it back out but found that the thread was stripped inside the caliper. Can this be retapped or am I looking for a new unit?

Its brakes- so its one of things I wouldnt skimp on. The metal is light alloy casting and your problem isnt uncommon due to the angle of the fitting that has to scre into it.
Id replace .

400/500 four/500 twin/550 four/ 250 G5 are all same caliper so ought to be loads out there somewhere plus DSS does a pattern on that is reasonable price.
Whilst i will repair a bleed nipple i dont think its worth trying to repair a pipe connection.
