Hi all,
What is the model of bike in the picture? This was one of the last bikes my grandad owned....and yes, that's me sitting on it. Started young!

Looks like a Honda XL125 around about 1977 ish year. Road bike but in sort of towards trials trim, not too powerful and fairly low geared possibly to about 55mph top speed.
See what others think as somebody on here may have owned one.

I'll second that. Some info on these bikes here:

Thanks guys.
Do you know if these bikes were readily available over here?

Yes, they were a U.K. spec bike, never very popular here, as people could still ride 250s on L plates back then. As a consequence the XL250 version sold far more.

Cheers. I might keep a look out for one.

Yup XL125 - great little puller on steep bankings and loads of laughs
We used these as our fun bikes for off roading up the fields
You would get shot and bike impounded if we did that now
Cheers

I don't know if there is a difference,
but a SL125 is in the latest issue of Motorcycle Sport and Leisure,
they say 1976,and was done as a present for Patsy Quick

Lad in the village where i grew up had an earlier XL 125. They always looked as if the wheelbase was too short. His certainly was when he got knocked off by a car driver pulling out of a side road. Didnt see it happen but heard the crash and witnessed the aftermath. Knocked out but otherwise ok.
