I intend to fit a new wiring loom as & when I have done a total strip down for powder coating the frame.
Does anyone have a set of photos that show the original routing of the wiring loom around the various parts of the frame?
I have photographed the existing wiring location but am pretty sure it's not as it left the factory in 1978 as there are extra wires all over the place not to mention great loops of connectors with rotten cover shrouds.
I see DSS list a new loom is it a good fit?
I have found alternatives such as this link whilst researching them.

Ok, here's 26 hi-rez pics. As a reminder, it's a '77 USA spec. When I was with the bike, I was thinking that you were primarily interested in wiring - looking back now, I see you were interested in brackets and hoses and tubes as well. So these may be lacking. Anyway, most of the hoses are out of place since my carbs and airbox are off the bike, as is my front brake system. Hope they help; you didn't specify any particular items you wanted...

They're basically front, left side, right side, and top. I took a few angles of the left side ones, especially the electrics behind the left side cover...

Hey Lobo - where did the last two images attached to your post come from? They're different from all the other Honda manual standards I've seen (like the others you posted). Are there more? They look like they could be helpful...

Although the parts list calls it a “stay, speed unit”, is it not just a bracket to hold the loom in place?
There cover for the wires sits between teh 2 protruding bits and the strap runs from the lower, beer-can, shelf to a hook above it on the frame.
This shows quite well on one of the colour pics.

Yes, on all market models, except the JDM, the speed stay bracket is where the end of the rubber band hooks on to to keep the loom / bundle / birds nest in place. On the JDM models, that is where the speed unit fitted.

Is this "speed unit" some kind of warning device? I see lots of references to the bracket, but not much on the device itself.
I must admit to being a bit skeptical about the notion that the loom "rubber band" is meant to hook on the speed stay bracket, even though that's the way mine came to me. It's a pretty awkward fit; the angle isn't right for either end of the strap:

There's a bottom tab on the frame which seems to be designed to receive the lower end of the strap; I don't have a photo of it but when utilized, the strap lines up much better with its upper tab:

Matt, if you look under where you have the bottom of the rubber band fitted, there is a hoop type lip thing, it's part of the same bracket, that is whete the bottom of the rubber band hooks on to, not where you have it. But, I agree, it's always at a funny angle. The speed stay unit attached to where your strap is in the 1st photo.

I've just finished using insulating tape to secure the bundle of wires in that sock thingy. What I am missing and what is a 'speed unit' stay and the strap to go with it...I have found a 'speed unit' but no strap ....are they obtainable?

My previous post's first photo with the really wonky strap angle is where the strap was when I got the bike. The second photo looks more correct, and shows how I have it now - but maybe I'm wrong about the frame lug and I actually do have the strap hooked onto the speed unit bracket in the right spot? I'm away from the bike so I can't confirm or deny...
