Paul,
I have had some success with a long-nosed pair of mole-grips. If one screw is removed you can turn the needle holder slightly to (sometimes) free the screw the other stuck screw.

Good luck,

Keith

Welcome Nigel,
I am in Poole so if you need any assistance (you seem to have most things covered) let me know.

I had the same problem, and eventually changed the fibre sealing washers underneath the two securing screws that hold the tap to the tank. These are tapped into the tank and can leak with age.
Good luck!

The question is what would you do with the £7500? You won't be able to ride a wad of cash that will not even keep pace with inflation if you put it in a building society or invest it. If you buy yourself another project it will cost you as much if not more than £7500 to get it to the same standard as your K1. Keep it, enjoy it and if you ever sell it, it will be worth even more than you have been offerd.

Hi Paul,
I agree with Mick, if the timing and carb balancing is done carfully it makes a massive amount of difference to cold starting, idling and pick-up at all throttle openings. Having run-in my 750 K2 i also rechecked valve clearances, adjusted cam chain and  reset points gap (dwell).
Hope this helps.

Where's My Old Bike? / Early 500/4

Now the restoration is complete, can anyone give me some history on XDU 984K?. I bought this form a guy in Churcham, Gloucester who sold it via ebay. The V5 says i am owner number 8, and the few tax discs also indicate the Gloucester area. It would be great to shed some light on it's history. Thanks.

New Member Introductions / steering yoke for K1 500/4
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:21:17 PM »
Thought i ought to introduce myself as i have been a member since June 2009! Firstly, great site that has been invaluable as a source of information for both my K2 750/4 (1973) and K1 500/4 (1972) rebuilds. I completed the rebuild of the K2, which i have owned since 1977, last year. Previous to this i have only ever restored British bikes but, i was so impressed by the quality of Honda engineering that i bought the 500/4 soon after. Having always loved the look of the 500/4 i started the restoration of one i found on e-bay and am nearing completion now, but i am short of a top steering yoke. I am fairly sure i need the one that lays the tacho and speedo almost flat but if anyone could advise me differently i would appreciate it. Also, i have bodged a K2 right hand switch unit to fit but if anyone has a spare one (i know they are very rare) i would gladly pay your price for it.
