Sorry chaps, not going to be able to get this knob off without the risk of breaking something. It is locktited on and I'm concerned that if i try forcefully to remove it, it's gonna get broken, that's if i could even get the screw out. I can still take photos / measurements with it in situ but I'm not sure if that will help much. Let me know if you want me to do that though.

Stop being such a bloody cheapskate 😀😀😀😀 Yamiya ones are excellent and not too pricey in the great scheme of things. Or, replica ones are a lot cheaper but they they don't have the HM on them, just like those in your picture.

Knowing how busy Menno is right now, I'd spray the panels to match the tank, enjoy the summer, and get it all done over winter!
Just what I was going to suggest Mr Hairy.

That's the little bit yes! If you could take as many pics as possible, perhaps put it on a flatbed scanner, I'm sure that would be a good way to start! Thank you!
OK Barry, I will do it on Thursday
Careful Julie, the little screw which holds it on can't round off very easily.
Thanks Ken. I have had the knob off before as a wire had corroded in the switch and i soldered it back together. What I'm not sure about, as i can't remember, is if i put a dab of locktite on the screw but, i will have a look and see before I wade in.

The 750 one is the same? well...I DO have one of those in the shed on my switchgear. I will have to dig it out and measure it up
It may only be UK models that have that type of knob across the model range. I think USA switch gear knobs are different. Don't know about 750 F1/2's as don't have any if them models here.

There was a very interesting thread last year about these bushes. Ian from Orkney, the Engineer (Orcadian) gave a good teaching session about them. I also sell the bronze bushes on Ebay and advise customers to soak in oil for 24 hours but, after Ians input, although it would in no way do any harm, there is no benefit either. Mr Hairy and others who have been fitting them for years also always advise the oil treatment.

Hi Julie, if you take photo’s or scans try to include a digital caliper so the size can be accurately reproduced
Yep, I will be armed with appropriate measuring equipment. Someone makes them somewhere as they are fitted to all the replica switchgear. It's the same knob on 500/4, 550/4 and 750/4

Is it just the plastic knob you are all talking about?. If so, i have one on my bike that i can remove and take photos of and measurements if needed. But, not until Thursday as busy tomorrow.
This thing And no, the bike still hasn't been cleaned !!! You can tell my bikes are riders and not show ponies 😀😀😀 [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

What type/material are they
Good point Paul. I'm assuming if they are from Frank, they are the bronze bushes.

Soaking them in oil for 24 hours prior to fitting can help them last longer. Make sure they are going in the hole straight and the last ones i fitted, I used a flat piece of timber and a hammer and just hit them home.
