CB750 / CB750F1 4 into one silencer availability?
« on: April 04, 2024, 11:44:49 AM »
Just wondered if any update on repro to match original availability?

I lashed out on new original down pipes and collector but waiting for silencer availability before fitting

CB500/550 / Re: Converting CB500K3 sub loom to fit K1

Maybe it would be easier to buy the 500K1 loom from Electrex World and sell off what you have 🤔🤔🤔

I couldnt see a K1 one on their site.

The one I bought was £35 and K1 on Ebay over £100

CB500/550 / Converting CB500K3 sub loom to fit K1
« on: April 03, 2024, 12:56:34 PM »
Wondering if anyone has already done?

My K1 sub loom is chopped about and multi connector to alternator missing.

Replica K3 subloom from Electrex I have does not appear to have inline fuse and starter solenoid wiring missing.

I can swap the starter wiring into new connector and wondered if anyone already converted one and has any tips?

Thanks

Misc / Open / Re: How do you decide it's time to buy a new bike

There is a formula for working out the perfect number of bikes to own.

Current number of bikes owned +1  :)

CB500/550 / CB500K1 Headrace balls
« on: February 20, 2024, 12:40:20 PM »
I removed the stem and yoke to check and regrease and wanted to see how many balls are needed in case any had escaped :-)

I was surprised to see in parts book that balls are 1/4 inch rather than metric and there are 37 needed for bike.

I have been caught out many years ago on an old Triumph by fitting too many balls, so checked Haynes manual and different numbers required at each end with Top 18 and bottom 19.

I have same problem after buying  engine gasket kit from DS.

Assume there are pattern parts available for less than £5 each?

Anyone know a supplier?

I tried to attach image of my engine with gallery plug, but did not work, so I have changed my avatar to the engine image

When I did my engines, I torqued then left overnight before fitting cam towers/cover and rechecked.

Not as good as running then rechecking, but I did notice slight movement.

The sprocket JTF338 17 fits fine and does not overhang end of shaft.

I fitted with flange outwards which lined up teeth with rear sprocket

If its the same as a 750, I have used an alloy sump plug with thread 20x1.5.

Check if same as yours.

Added benefit, you can get ones with magnets to catch tiny particles.

750 has another 2 that go into bottom of sump.

I fitted with Dowty sealing washers.

Look OK if you get the alloy ones and not concerned about originality.

Thanks Dennis.

I have done an initial search and DS US come up for BSM but dont list for CB750F1.

I will search further.

I did ask if Busso have a cheaper, slower delivery option, but no reply so far.

A 79 CB650 sprocket apparently fits using a 530 chain and is 10.7 wide so have ordered one and will see how it fits.

I found this incase it helps others, https://www.cb750.com/threads/78-cb750-f2-chain-conversion.7213/

Apparently K7/F2 output shaft is 10mm further out and cover is different.
