Hi Billy 192
Here's the link to the same problem which I had.
http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,3954.msg16866.html#msg16866
I bought a phenolic piston from the States which together with my caliper bracket mod cured the problem.

I'll have to try and come to this next month if work allows, as i'm in lytham and i've got family in lune valley. Mind you, judging by that video clip I could swim there...!  :o :)
Hi and welcome to this forum. :)
I have a friend not far from you at Cleveleys who is a regular attender. The weather has always been a lot better than the freak storm we had last week.
The next meet is on the first Thursday in August, then only one more this year which is in September.

It's that time of the month again.
Wray Village Classic Bike Night this Thursday (5th) starting at 7.00pm till 9.00pm.
I hope the weather improves - I'm suffering from 'cabin' fever with all the rain. >:(
I left Kendal in sunshine to find it was raining at Wray. It got steadily worse during the evening with a torrential downpour which lasted for quite a long time. Deep water was cascading through the property opposite, flooding the road and sweeping across the cafe outside seating area. A few bikes were abandoned for the night by their owners.
Eventually I left after declining a kind offer of a lift home by car.
Safe navigation at 9.00pm in the dark was possible only by riding slowly in the middle of the road following the 'cats eyes' showing under deep water and reflected in my headlights. I arrived home soaked to the skin through my waterproofs. See a short video of the rain at http://s1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh578/meerkat253/Moving%20pictures/
See you all next month ?  ;D

Did someone say Summer ?
2" of rain in 2 hours yesterday in Kendal.
I'd started to strip the roof off my 'workshop'  because it was leaking slightly.
Now I can't finish the job until it dries out again.

Baaaaaah! >:( >:( >:(

My bikes are Taxed & mot'd & insured all year round  8), ------------------------------- cheers Mick.
Same here - I ride my bikes all year round except for the 400/4 which I don't ride in the rain if I can avoid it.
It's ironic and annoying that the price of petrol is falling at the same time as the damn rain. >:(

Hi TomB,
Watch out for the breathalyser checks on the quay when you leave the ferry.
Enjoy your trip.  ;D

Hi Mick,
Both Tomb and myself were looking out for you but obviously missed you again.
Things were a bit manic tonight with the highest turnout ever. I left early ready to finish packing for a 4 day trip to Scotland on the bike in the morning. Next month should be a bit quieter. See you then.  ;)

Hi all,
It's the Classic Bike Night tonight at Wray and it coincides with Wray village Scarecrow festival. We had a look round the village yesterday in glorious sunshine. The pictures show just 2 of the hundreds of exhibits

I went yesterday and was very disappointed, It was bitterly cold, wet, windy and I never bothered to look round outside.
It took me till 3.00 o'clock to decide to spend any money after arriving at quarter to nine. Some of the outside stalls were packing up at 1.00 and some had even had enough at 12.00. I hope they had a better days trading on Saturday.
Fingers crossed for a dry Thursday evening - Classic Bike Night at Wray.

would brazing cause any discoloration to the chrome
Yes it will.
You could try placing pieces of copper (pipe or plate) on the silencer near the heating zone to transfer heat away from the area. Or I would opt for silver soldering (not lead solder) with the smallest gas flame possible to make the join. Tin the patch first away from the silencer then apply the patch to the hole and gently re-heat for the best chance of success. Don't direct the heat into the silencer at 90 degrees, angle the torch away from the chrome to keep the heat to the minimum required. Halfords sell a good chrome type paint (plasti-kote) to paint the patch with later.
