Title: whats it worth
Post by: piggy40 on February 21, 2014, 12:55:30 AM: i have a 1977f1 23k on clock all the mechanics , electrics, forks rechromed, brakes have all been done passed an MOT in december unridden since then, it also has new battery, new rear suspension and about £300 of spares to fit including new tyres,inertubes , wheel tape, mirrors, levers and rubbers+++++.
on the minus side all bright work needs doing and the wheels, tank has rust spots, frame and engine need a coat of paint( paint included in spares).
i have been told by my doctor i shouldnt ride as my back wont hold weight so am wanting to sell or part ex for a trike but have no idea of the current market value. there is a photo posted but could add more.

Post by: mick on February 21, 2014, 08:16:52 AM: Hi Piggy the later f1 & f2's don't seem to be as desirable as the earlier k series bikes, I paid £500 for my f1 about 20 years ago :), I would estimate yours is worth some were between £1500 and £2500 cheers Mick.

The most I have ever seen an F1 for was around £4500 but that was the dog's sphericals, v low mileage, original and pristine. The older four pipers seem more desireable to the average punter which is fine by me as a confirmed F1ophile ;)

I guess it depends on how bad the rust is. I spent a small fortune on renovating my F1 ( lost count but estimated at £5K ) most in the know would know that which would drive the price down if they wanted to renovate.

This one sold for £830 a week ago and i payed £650 for a 7,432 mile good condition one just before christmas.

Given that the forks have been re-chromed (£150 ish) and there are £300 worth of spares I would think £1500 to £1800 is a fair price, I cant find piggys project for the photo though, which section is it in?.
