Here goes Graham on K0 funny oil control ring under main oil ring. Hondaman told me to discard the funny ring.

Can't see it myself Ash, all I can see is the old style oil control ring which was cast in one piece before they started to use the 3 separate part oil rings.
No3 looks odd though, can't seem to place where or what that is.
You can see it here Ken

See what you mean now ;D

Used a lot on older car style, Its there to help push the oil ring out to the cylinder wall which the centre bit on the 3 piece does as well but the thin side bits scrape the oil better than the big thick ring.
That No3 is the little rubber bung between the fins

Don't start me wanting a set of those again. I thought I was over it.

If you buy a Noboru Packing full gasket set the rubber bungs come with it!

The top rings always get help to push against the bore by the compression, more of a challenge for rings further down as they're trying to scrape all the oil they can while not raising friction too much.

It's called an expander ring.
