I've fitted the Electrex world unit to my CB350F and it's working fine.

Misc / Open / Re: Led bulbs?
« on: February 08, 2020, 11:17:06 AM »
If you use them for indicator bulbs you need to do one of two possible modifications because the LED bulbs only draw a small current which isn't enough to operate a standard bi-metal strip flasher unit.

Either

1. Wire a ballast resistor in PARALLEL with each of the 4 indicator bulbs to increase the current draw.

Or

2. Fit an electronic flasher unit which operates at the correct rate regardless of the amount of current flowing in the circuit. This would be the better option and, if you fit a high power electronic flasher unit it will work with LEDs, filament bulbs or a combination of both.

I have a 1996 900 Diversion (with a rare working gauge) and I start to look for a garage after about 150/160 miles.

Silvers did do the rivet type pin but I just used a small stainless steel dome head bolt and a nyloc nut.

Sounds like the engine breather.

There should be a breather tube which exits just below the front of the swinging arm. if the smoke is coming from behind the side panel then it may be that this tube has become disconnected or is missing.

As Bryanj mentioned the regulator/rectifier combination on these early bikes is pretty crude so I would stick with either a traditional lead/acid or possibly an AGM. Gel, and particularly lithium batteries need a very specific and well controlled charging regime.

I have a 1974 CB350F and needed to mount a top box. As this a fairly rare bike in the UK there was no source for a model specific rack but (dubiously) I bought a universal rack from eBay and it tuned out to be a good fit. It was powder coated rather than chromed but it did the job till a model specific one turned up on eBay in the USA.

Sorry. I wasn't clear.

When I rebuilt my Diversion carbs the bike fired up after turning it over on the starter a few times so the fuel pump must have been energised during cranking.

When I converted my VW beetle to efi I wired in a direct supply to the pump using a momentary push switch so that I could prime the system should I need to.

I'm surprised that there was no power to the pump on cranking. When I rebuilt my carbs I made sure I had a fully charged battery then just kept cranking the engine over till it fired (which it did).

As Bryan says!

As a safety feature on the Diversion (and most modern machines with an electric fuel pump) the pump only operates when the engine is turning so if you have completely emptied the carbs it can take a long time to fill them up again just turning the engine on the starter. By wiring an external supply to the pump you primed the system and filled the carbs so that it would fire up no problem and keep running properly. I have a 1996 900 Diversion.

You can get Dowty washers in small quantities and in a large variety of sizes on eBay.

That looks really nice.

I chose a Rover colour for mine too. BRG metallic.

For me the 350F is all about the 4 into 4 but the system you have on there certainly doesn't look out of place.

I'm using Boyer too and I would definitely recommend their system.

Try to find a suitable colour of special caliper paint as they are resistant to brake fluid spills.
