I'm using the Boyer system that retains the standard coils and I'm very happy with it.

There's one on eBay at the moment.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-NOS-CB350-CB360-CB400-Caliper-Adjust-Spring-45119-333-000-d-30/391911976705?hash=item5b3fc62f01:g:c7oAAOSwmkpZ7hkR
When I saw that the first thing that sprung to mind was the £12.00 makes an expensive spring!
And then the £13 postage on top!

Do you need it or not?

These are obsolete bikes with very few spares remaining.

If you want the genuine article then pay the price. The author of the post was asking for the specific Honda item.

CB750 / Re: Swing arm bush fitting
« on: July 13, 2019, 12:24:51 AM »
Like you I cleaned out the bore of the swinging arm and the bushes went in eventually but I found that the inner bore had contracted and I needed to carefully ream them to size before I could get the pivot pin to slide in.

If you use aa good quality double sealed bearing you can just fit them as they are and leave the hub cavity dry.

Just been out to check mine.

Yes it does touch. It's very light contact but it definitely does just touch.

CB350/400 / Re: Change Fluid Brake
« on: May 08, 2019, 05:50:53 PM »
I have used Automec silicone fluid in all my vehicles for a number of years now.

Here's Automec's description of their product.

"Unlike standard, glycol based, clutch/brake fluid, Automec DOT 5 - silicone fluid is non - hygroscopic which means it does not absorb moisture. This will help prevent corrosion in the system and, under heavy braking conditions, it tends not to boil. Also, it won't harm paintwork if spilt.

NOTE; It is completely safe to mix Automec DOT 5 silicone clutch/brake fluid with standard, Glycol based, clutch/brake fluid. However, in order to obtain the maximum performance benefits, it is best to drain the brake system refill with Automec Dot 5 silicone fluid."

Ideally the system should be clean but if you drain out the old fluid first then bleed the silicone fluid through thoroughly you should be fine.

Memories! I thought Redex was extinct.

I remember my dad always used to ask for a shot of Redex in the tank of his BSA B33 every time he filled up with petrol.

Misc / Open / Re: Bike Boots
« on: April 25, 2019, 10:49:36 AM »
These boots have laces but they are locked by a spring toggle and covered by a large Velcro flap.

You don't have to tie and untie the laces. You pull them to tension them then slide the spring toggle down to lock them.

I had mine done by Brooks and was very happy with their work.

Not sure of the origin of the bronze bushes I got from the US but after fitting them in the swinging arm I had to ream them out to get the pivot tube in there

This is well worth reading if you've got some free time.

That all looks very nice.  Are the exhausts repo's from Silvers
[/quote]

They are repros but not from Silvers. 5 or 6 sets turned up on eBay a couple of years back for around £800 so I grabbed a set.

Exactly what I've done with mine.

I've repainted the coloured panels, fitted a new exhaust and rear spring/dampers, reconditioned the forks, swinging arm, wheel bearings and brakes and fitted electronic ignition and an electronic regulator but the frame, engine and chromework is all untouched. I just want to ride it rather than restore it.
