They went through a bad time with cam chain tensioners too but on balance I think it is fair to say that Honda designers got a lot more right than they got wrong.

Yes if you insist :-)

These are for a Honda CB350F. You will need to check the lengths against your own bike.

Upper Hose

Lower Hose

The second schematic shows the dimensions for a direct replacement but the best option is the alternative hose shown in the lower part of the diagram. It lines up nicely with all the original hose carriers.

Furore cars will need the dimensions.

I have the schematics and if you PM me with your email I will send them over to you.

CB750 / Re: Brake pads and shoes

I've always stuck with EBC Organic pads and shoes.

You can fit sintered pads if you wish but the are more abrasive on the front disc.

I’m not sure what pitch it is but i know its the same size as a std banjo bolt if that helps...

It it simple to get braided brake hoses made up to go straight into the caliper without  using the standard metal pipe bit?

I've done exactly that too.

A single hose that goes from the brake light switch union to the caliper with an angled male fitting at the caliper end.

I think early Honda brake fittings are M10 x 1.25mm pitch.

Using the Colourtune you're really only setting the mixture at idle and the needle and throttle slide will be having little or no effect at idle.

You're really only dealing with the idle circuit and mixture adjustment screw.

Conventional grease guns will not fit on the non-waisted grease nipples. I changed mine for the standard type but you have to search out the correct type as they are a knock-in fit rather than being threaded.

Thanks for that.

On the US site they talk about footrests kickstarter and brake lever too but nothing insurmountable.

CB350/400 / 400 into 350 swap?
« on: April 30, 2018, 04:50:59 PM »
I have a CB350F with a tired engine. There is a lot of blowby and crankcase pressurisation.
I want to rebuild the 350 engine but here in the UK spares are rare and it make take some time.
To avoid the bike being off the road I would like to temporarily fit the complete engine from a CB400F.
Apart from the clutch operation are there any other differences?
My bike has the full 4 pipe system. Will that couple up to the engine OK?

No, it's a UVA Fugitive 2. A VW Beetle based sand rail although I built it purely as a road car.

CB350/400 / CB350F NOS carrier fitted.
« on: April 19, 2018, 08:04:01 PM »
I've finally got round to fitting my new very old stock Fox Honda carrier to my CB350F.

I got in from the USA on eBay.

It fits well and retains the stock grab rail with the indicator mounts. It also has support brackets at the back which bolt to the number plate bracket.

I spite of it's age it looks quite modern in it's styling.

Now all I have to do is to work out a way of mounting the Givi base plate without drilling holes in the new rack.

I'm using a pair on my CB350F.

The look correct, have the correct dimensions and work at least as well as the originals and better than the old worn out originals that I took off.

I'm very happy with them.

CB750 / Re: Boyer Ignition cb750
« on: March 25, 2018, 08:12:15 AM »

Could be that Boyer’s engineers have optimised/improved on Honda’s probably conservative spec (itself constrained by the relatively crude mechanical advance) or perhaps the basic module and timing profile is sold by Boyer for a number of motorcycle models including the CB750 and is therefore a compromise to suit a range of specifications...

Basically yes.

The Boyer advance curve is controlled electronically and has been optimised compared to the OEM mechanical system and, as far as I know, they list the same control unit for all the Honda fours of that period.
