Tip. Never state that the part you are buying/ sending is a Fuel/ Petrol Tank !

Just note it as 'Motorcycle Parts'.....I have sold/ sent a few Tanks over the years and never had any problem when using that description - which is the truth anyway.

Of course the Tanks I have sold/ shipped have not held any Petrol for years and have been well 'aired' so they are basically just lumps of steel plate so there is no risk.

You don't use the felt with the bronze bushes, just the end cap.
Thanks Julie 👍

Old bushes knocked out today. They were as Julie described: a sort of Bakelite material, definitely not metal. I concocted a tool to knock them out made of a length of M10 studding. Worked a treat. When it comes time to put the arm back in the frame I’m probably going to need some help. Looking at the parts diagram I don’t recall there being that many spacers and washers etc when I took it apart. Everything that came off was bagged up however,
.
On yours Mike, referring to the fiché picture, you only fit the new bronze bushes and the end cap.

I managed to do a workaround for today's pics.  I emailed them to myself and had the choice of keeping original size or reducing when attaching.  Picked reduce, then saved them to photos and they were about 1Mb, down from 4.1.
Apologies to Steve, perhaps best not to increase permitted size - the 'slack' might be needed for something else.

We'll do our best John - was quite warm but still had a choppy wind.

Dave, its only the later ones with a rubber seal, early ones the seal is the felt ring, i think i still used the caps with the bronze bushings though

I've been hanging around 400/4’s for too long Bryan, I thought looking at the parts diagram the end caps were the same as those on a 400. Every day is a school day on the forum👍

Managed to cut the grass first thing, so felt that I had earned a ride out.  Passing a friend's place about a mile away, he was just wheeling his CRF Rally out, so with nowhere in mind we set off together and went out around the north of the Mainland (of Orkney) via Costa and Evie, into Finstown and on a whim (thought you said it was a 550?) headed for the Barrier View cafe just by the first Churchill barrier.  Suitably fed and watered, Les led us out via the Airport, back through town and then had a gentle pootle back home.  Really enjoyable impromptu ride of just under 60 miles.
