CB750 / price guide for a k4 CB750 please
« on: December 31, 2014, 07:27:24 PM »
Friend of mine has a K4 CB750 he wants to sell.
The bike is unrestored original and looks in vgc for its age.
It has a genuine four into four exhaust fitted, period Lester cast wheels,
engine guards and rack fitted.
The owner is now in his 80,s and finds it too heavy.
Any idea on the price he should ask would be appreciated.

Thanks

CB500/550 / Another brake disc question
« on: January 24, 2012, 09:48:05 AM »
Can anybody tell me if the front disc on the early CB500T is the same size as my CB550.
I am collecting parts to do a twin disc set up but have not found a cheap 550 disc yet but there
are a few 500t ones about.

CB500/550 / Float bowl O ring size?
« on: November 01, 2011, 09:57:50 AM »
Does anybody know the 'O' Ring size for the 550 float bowl or if
its possible to buy them seperate.
I bought a Carb O Ring seal kit off E Bay a while back but when i removed the
float bowl off one carb the seal has swelled and will not refit. I just hope the rest
of the kit was better quality.

CB500/550 / front mudguard mounting 550f2
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:06:20 PM »
Can someone tell me if the left mudguard mount fits behined the brake swivel bracket
or bolts to the top of it.
Looking at pictures in my old manual [cb500] it looks to bolt between the forkleg and
brake bracket but i am sure on mine it was bolted to the outside of the bracket.
Thanks

CB500/550 / New cam chain fitted is very tight
« on: April 02, 2011, 12:51:29 PM »
First i should say hello as its my first post,
I am refreshing a CB550F2 engine as part of a project i picked up a few months ago.
I have split the cases, fitted a new cam chain, piston rings ect and checked everything over.
Now everything was going well untill a fitted the camshaft, i put the camchain over the sprocket
timed up the cam and then tried to put the sprocket on the cam. I could not get it on by hand
but had to use a screwdriver to slightly lever the sprocket up and slip it onto to cam.
This leaves the cam chain very tight even with the tensioner backed of.

I have checked the cam chain [DID 219T 88 link]  the front guide is in correct with the 'up' pointing
up and the tensioner is fully backed off.
I am at a loss now,  i can only think the head/base gaskets could be too thick [unlikely] .

I could leave it and run the engine for a short while then strip it to see if the chain has bed in and stretched a little but i am a bit woried about.
The gasket set i used was a NP aftermarket set .
Any ideas of something silly a may be missing
