Good price Ash. Shame it's not the later model, I personally don't like the fuel tank shape on the earlier model.
The V-Max is a good price
Maybe you are tempted by the CBX250?

Unlike Dave, I like the K5 shape

I had one in 1977.

Those Dunstall Decibel silencers weren’t.

This would have been your (K4) model Steve note quilted seat and single tank stripe.

Sign of the era with the L plate on a 175. Which led me to reminding myself the rules changed in Feb 83. I ran a CD175 in 78 and didn’t sit my test until 86. Nice bike!

I was also riding a CD175 in 1978, I only had it for 6 weeks, passed my test on it and bought a Bonneville.

My CB175 was brand new.  My father was the guarantor.  I kept it for about 9 months, then chopped it in for CB250 K0 1968.  A straight swap I think.  I just kept paying the loan off.  The 250 "K0"  (no K0 then it was just CB250) was a quick bike...before Soichiro detuned them from 33 down to 27hp with the K1....If I remember correctly.  No helmet law then!

Cheers,

I guess it wouldn’t have been that “cool” to have moved up to a CB550 back then!

Talking of CD175's, I was getting married and buying a house so sold my brand new CB750K2 and bought a CD175 to get around on, nice little bike that I could really thrash around on. I can remember the cam chain breaking and having to carry the engine upstairs to our flat to work on it, we were living in the flat while waiting for the endless processing of our house purchase.
The CD175 did not last too long as I could not resist another CB750 and bought a very nice CB750K1, the CD175 being passed on to my wife.

Cheers

Mid 1973 before helmets were compulsory with the exception of Seik Turban wearers.

I have two cb175 k6. But I do prefer the look of the earlier model.
Especially in gold. I think this is due to the first one I saw back in 71 being gold. I thought it looked lovely.  A proper big bike. In miniature.
Love riding the 175. Great fun.

Original CB250 K0 in 1968  was claimed 30HP...... K1 never imported to UK but was still 30HP..... 30HP engine carried on until K2 but in 1971 was detuned to 27HP for K3  (30HP engine had 'TYPE 1' stamped in the points cover, K3 onwards, the cover as plain). The 'TYPE 2' engine was only fitted to JDM CD models (i.e 360 ° crank). The K2 was only ever sold by Honda UK in Candy Gold Custom/White.

Ash.

Thank you for those brochure images.  Wow how having such material is so useful. Just shows how time can distort some memories.  My second CB250 was a K2, which I had to do some restoring.  It had the Blue /White tank.  I can't remember the colour of the K0, because it had a Read Titan fairing which I rattle can painted an awful yellow and brown scheme.  I do have pictures of that, but not when I first got it.  Third CB250 was a K3...burgundy I think.  All such a long time ago....sigh!

Cheers,
Jerry

If it was Burgundy it would have been 'Gentle Maroon Metallic' and a K4 model. The K3 was only sold here in UK in Candy Gold. A lot of subtle changes on the K4 ..like a top yoke with pinch bolt clamps ..that break. Plus the K4 was the first model to be sold here as a 350 model. 350 was only sold here in green.

Ash,

Oh dear we have drifted off the thread haven't we.

I don't suppose any one will be interested in my faulty memory.  I did have four CB250s, but maybe only the K3 for a very short while.  I vaguely remember a gold one.

Thank you for the refresh.

Cheers,
Jerry

A little drifting is good for conversations.

I kinda like the CB175, a mate of mine had one and a lot of the others had the CD175. I went to buy a brand new one in gold but when I got to the shop I found the HP wasn't affordable so I ended up buying my very first new bike, a CB125J I believe, YJA 8L.

I always liked the CB250K4 myself, one of the few smaller bikes I'd consider buying now TBH, I almost bought one when I was working for Queenies, one was part exed and the reg was Ken ---P which was my name and the initial of my surname. It was £150, which at the time was about a week and a halves wage so I ended up not buying it.

Another mate of mine later traded in his CD175 for a CB350K4 and yes it was olive green.
