I heard one of them mention Yamiya. Thats a very popular cafe, i have seen a lot of classic japanese bikers in various you-tube vids meeting there. It takes me back to the 60's and 70's when all our bikers would meet at the local cafe on the weekend before going for a ride, a scene that has disappeared in this country

Anything to do with royalty is a waste of money, bunch of free loaders, haven't done a proper days work in their life, and yet millions queue for hours just to catch a glimse of them, i'm obviously in the minority. Vive Le Republic !!

If you are useing a jointing compound between the crankcase faces, will this not alter the bearing clearance ?

Yes, SS80 fragile as hell, my mate bought a new one back in 1964, and i had a new CB72 which would blow the pants off his BSA.

You are right about Italian, at least the 70's era bikes , i bought a new Benelli six (sei) in 1976, i kept it for about three months, the build quality was abysmal, it leaked oil from stem to stern so i part ex'd it for a BMW R90S, what a difference. Sorry about hi-jacking your post.

I have now had the carbs apart, the needles were all in the same middle groove so probably badly adjusted to give differing needle lengths poking out of the bottom. Have now read the post from Hondaman stateing that the K1 should be in the second from bottom groove, so that is where i positioned them.
I have bought a Carbtune vac gauges to sync the carbs, but will have to wait till David Silver sorts out the faulty silencers.

I spoke to DS today, they are sending Fedex to pick up the pipes tomorrow, they said they will try them on their bike to test, and suggesting that the frame is possibly bent, but if that is the case then surely pipes number 1 and 3 would also not fit, but they go on ok, anyway time will tell, fingers crossed.

Judging by the number of restorations you have completed, you have probably bought and fitted several sets of silencers, have you had this kind of problem, by that i mean you had to send them back, if so were there any quibbles.

Not a hope in hell James, the silencer body is rubbing on the lever boss, on top of that i have now tried to fit 1 and 2 pipes, the rear hanger bolt is a very tight fit but probably could be persuaded with a mallet, but to my horror when i looked at the front view number 3 pipe is a couple of mil' from touching the filter body. I've now packed them up ready for shipment after i speak to David Silver tomorrow, i wonder what their responce will be.
