CB500/550 / Clutch adjustment problem on CB500 K2
« on: April 09, 2024, 05:46:02 PM »
OK so an FB post couldn't throw any light on this issue (Julie seal was helpfull, thank you)

I took thr LH crankcase/sprocket cover off to replace the clutch cable - the clutch was working fine

Obviously a strip, clean & re-grease was required, but I noticed that the clutch adjustment clamp was missing and the clutch adjustor wouldn't move

I eventually removed the adjuster, with a fair bit of force, but it is obviously too big for the hole in the case - the hole is 26mm diameter and the adjuster is 27

Can anyone any light on this and suggest a fix

Also, does anyone have a spare adjuster clamp?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

CB500/550 / Where to source jets for carbs for CB500 Four K2
« on: March 26, 2024, 10:09:16 AM »
Hi all,

Looking for #110 main jets and #42 slow running for my Honda CB500 Four K2 (I reckon 4 of each will suffice!)

I'm based in South West Wales UK

Any suggestions as a good source - or anyone on here wanting to sell....?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

CB500/550 / Cb500 Four K3 Jetting
« on: October 12, 2023, 10:55:47 AM »
Hi all,

Carb rebuild time on my CB500 K3 to RC181 Replica project (I'm in the UK, but it's a US model)

I'm planning on running uni foam filters and straight through 4 into 4 exhausts and looking for suggestions as to jet sizes

My normal guesstimate would be to up the Main Jets by 3 sizes (100 to 115), up the Pilot Jet by 1 size (40 to 45) and raise the needle by one notch (from middle to 4th down)

My thinking is that should make it on the safe side of rich and I can tweek it from there

I've searched the forum and have read that keeping as much of the original brassware as possible is a good idea, also that 'Nurse Julie' on this forum is a good source for O rings (other things as well)

Any suggestions as to where to purchase quality jets and gaskets (preferably in UK)?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Pic is where I'm at with project at the moment....

Hi all,

Thanks for the add

I have just purchased a '72 CB500 four, which I intend customising into a Hailwood rep

Rationale being, as a pensioner, I will soon be too old to bump start my current Honda, so will retain the electric start on this one!

A million questions running through my head, but fitting the Hailwood style fairing over the sticking out alternator, without cutting a hole in it, will be my first challenge....

Current bikes are:

1972 Honda CB500 Four K
1972 Honda CB350 K4 (see avatar) that I restored from a wreck
1974 Yamaha TZ/RD250 (looks like a TZ A twin shock but has an RD aircooled engine)
2014 Royal Enfield Continental GT535 (for going to the cafe on)
2019 Suzuki GSX-R1000R ('cos every pensioner needs a 200bhp Superbike!)

TT & Manx Grand Prix fan, first attended in 1976
Other hobbies include: Paragliding, snowboarding, unicycling, skateboarding, chasing women and drinking beer
