Post by: Richw on September 16, 2014, 03:44:06 PM
Last seen for sale at Oxford classic Honda.
Restored by me in the mid nineties,it's maroon and totally standard.I just hope "bike pusher "on ebay hasn't got his hands on it as it's got an original standard pipe on
WFM77R is my current Yoshi bike, anybody recognise it?

Bike pusher is recently a member and regular on here so I am sure you will soon have an answer.  :) or  :(

I am in Willerby East Yorks. My '69 750K0 (TAJ30H Red)  and 1st 400/4 (XDN128R  Blue) came from York . My mate Dave Wood from college  has a bike shop in York in Haleys Terrace and formally in Acomb.

Your old 400/4 is still around ... somewhere but as we have found on this site it's hard to locate the whereabouts of vehicles ...unless you are a rip off parking person !

Cheers ... AshD

Hi,YVY went through Dave's shop when it was  Honda City back in the eighties .
I'm surprised it's not on the road as it was in really good nick, and only on sale at Oxford classic Honda earlier this year.

Sadly some people just buy they and us 'em as museum pieces. I knew of someone with an immaculate, original  '69 750 Sandcast. He had it in his lounge and then sold it to a guy, who now has it in his kitchen, I believe. Why not store it in the bedroom  ::)  Funny comments please !!

Was Motorcycle City his shop in Haley's Terrace that was Mountains or the one in Acomb that my other Mate Chris B had and then passed onto Dave (bit of a character Dave!) ? Chris took over the shop in Acomb from a a guy called MickB, who then went on to form the Suzuki Centre in York.

Won't the owner of Oxford Classics, Charlie, at least pass on your details to the new owner? He sounded like a decent person on the couple of occasions I have spoken to him on the 'phone (500/4 owner). I do have his Mobile No. If you need it PM me.

Cheers ...AshD

Cheers for the offer of the phone number Ash,I don't like to bother the bloke though.
Alan Mountains used to be on Holgate road ,near the bridge, that's been converted back into houses now after MilesKing Sport ran it for a while after Alan's death.I remember Dave Wood when he used to on Viking road in Acomb, but he's been at Haleys Terrace a good few years now,as has Mick Buttfield at the Suzuki Centre.
Do you remember Shearsmiths on Blossom Street, proper shop that.

Don't remember Shearsmiths but my other friend from college days Chris Brack used to go on about them .. Chris took over Mick Buttfields shop in Viking road and then went on to buy Pharmacies and Dave took it over from him. I bought my '69  750K0 off Chris's  mate Steve in 2008. They all used to talk about this guy DaveM from York who was obsessed with750 K0's and buying up hoardes of NOS Honda parts, they nicknamed him the "K0 Kid".

I am sure the Oxford Classics guy wouldn't mind passing on your request. The least he can do is say no!  You are really lucky as you don't usually get a solid lead like that. My CB250K2 is out there and taxed somewhere (again from bl**dy York!!) HDT2J but no idea how to contact the present owner. Go for it !!.

Cheers .. and keep on here ...Ash

Ha!

Took a long shot with my old 400F (GVH 55S) yesterday & emailed David Silver directly asking him if he'd seen it / been through his 'works'.

Nice / prompt reply back, but "nope".

We really need to get the DVLA to see common sence & do more than, "the computer / elf'n'safety / privacy laws blah blah say no"
