Is there an easy way of telling wether my f2 is charging properly or even charging atall ?

Hi Pete, sounds like your having fun!!
Quick and dirty with no kit is to run it with headlight on at slow tickover in the dark and when you get it above 2000rpm or so it should be brighter, if not it's usually not charging.
Same thing with meter across battery should rise from about 12.5volts not running to max 14 as revs come up, should have peaked by about 3000rpm I think.

Pete...if you suspect the windings, rectifier or the regulator I can test them electrically as I have the right equipment.

Windings, i have never seen go wrong EXCEPT for impact damage, regulator points have been known to stick, rectifiers only normally go wrong if you let the smoke out by connecting a battery backwards---although i have seen some so corroded the wire has fell off.
Normal problem is dirty/bad connectors
PS dont forget the F2 can standard with a halogen headlamp so the revs to charge are higher
