Title: Clutch cover
Post by: judodave on February 09, 2011, 08:32:48 PM
Hi, I have a new clutch outer cover to put on my 650z and I know it has a gasket between the cover and engine. Would I need to put a sealant on the gasket or can it go on dry. regards Dave

What happens if you do put sealant on? Is it just a risk of gunge getting into the engine?

...and is there a rule of thumb as to areas that do require gasket sealant?

Main risk is sealant in engine, think about it if you can see it outside at least the same amount is inside.

Sealant only on metal to metal surfaces and then SPARINGLY,

grease on all paper gaskets BUT NOTHING ON THE HEAD GASKET
