Just took my bike out today for an hours run and noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe when I got back home. Has fresh petrol in and bike ran fine, opened it up to about 90mph , any thoughts.

Hi, just thought I would drop a line on the forum as I,m thinking of selling my CB650z and would prefer it to go an enthusiast here before I advertise it. I have spent a lot of time, effort and money but have only done 42 miles since the last MOT. ring me on 07901223627 if interested or email david.martin847@ntlworld.com. regards dave

CB650 / Re: starting problems
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:38:02 PM »
thanks all for the replys, I took the bike out yesterday and it started after 5 attempts this time with the choke only slightly out, after a couple of miles I can put the choke back in and the bike runs superb. when I got back, one of the carbs started overflowing, so I will clean through the jets again this weekend and see if I can improve the starting. regards dave.

CB650 / starting problems
« on: October 27, 2011, 10:20:44 PM »
Hi, have been using my recently restored cb650z regularly, but it is a pain to start when cold. This is the first old style bike I have owned so understand it wont be the same as my previous bike a fireblade. The engine and carbs have been rebuilt but on starting it seems to be fuel starvation and fires up eventually after many attempts. I have heard that this model from new was a terrible cold starter, which probably explains the premature starter clutch failure history. Its a shame that honda withdrew the kickstart on this bike, any tips on better starting would be greatly appreciated. regards dave.

CB650 / Clutch cover

Hi, I have a new clutch outer cover to put on my 650z and I know it has a gasket between the cover and engine. Would I need to put a sealant on the gasket or can it go on dry. regards Dave

Thanks Paul,

My bike is at a Mate,s garage at the moment, when I get up there I will have a look and come back to you. I made the mistake of drilling out the thread inside the mudguard to put some LED indicators in the position where the bolt goes through to secure the grab rail. This is before I got the grab rail as it was taking so much time to locate one. I have the original indicators which I will put on the back and front. The honda manual does show some kind of spacer but its hard to work out what it is. regards Dave

CB650 / grab rail
« on: December 18, 2010, 02:09:28 PM »
Hi,

I've just managed to get an original grab rail for my CB650z but it looks like I need some inserts for the bolts that go through the rail and frame and into the mudguard.
If somebody has the same bike, could you let know what they look like as there seems to be a gap of at least an inch either side.

regards

Dave

I've recently painted the speedo because I had'nt seen your reply, is it difficult to get the ring out to remove the glass as cutting it in half may cause other problems.

cheers

Hi,

I've managed to get a replacement speedo for my cb650z but the mileage shown is a lot higher than what my previous one stated, is it possible to adjust the correct figure.

CB650 / Paint work and Exhaust
« on: November 11, 2010, 04:42:14 PM »
Hi all,

I wonder if anybody can help me, I'm looking for a suitable black paint for a Cb650z. The bike is at present in a badly painted blue by the previous owner and I want to change it to black as it was originally. Does anybody know of a suitable paint code that may be similar?

Secondly I need to change the rotten motad exhaust and I have been looking at the Marshall deep tone and the two Marvin sets. Does anybody have any recommendations about which of these products would be a suitable or better replacement.

many thanks

Dave
