Title: Exhaust collars.
Post by: Johnny4428 on March 11, 2024, 08:56:30 PM
Was delighted when I received these back from the chrome platers today, was wondering if it was worth hours and hours of grinding sanding and polishing down the very rough castings. These were the original ones off my K3. Not sure which bike they are going on yet. To think I nearly dumped them on more than one occasion!😳

They look fantastic Johnny, well worth the time and effort. You've set the bar high now for the rest of the bike 😁👍.

They look very good. Was the chroming expensive?

£10 each one plus vat. £60 covering postage too. Didn’t think it was too bad, have you seen the price of a new nos set? And they are rough.
Just checked £43.57 each!😳

Very fair price I had a small wire bathroom rack re-chromed about 8 years ago cost me £45 !

They look fantastic Johnny!
My mate would say they are a 'top o'telly' job - you can put them there to admire them while the other half is watching 'Stwickly!
At that price, compared with new, I might be able to swing a free pass into Yorkshire for you yet!

There's a clever boy. Impressive. How long did the prep take?

We have another polisher like Ken in the making! 8) 8) 8)

When I cleaned mine up before painting there were a lot of what I assume are casting holes - more like woodworm burrows that the paint fell into.

I didn’t keep track of the time as I did a couple of hours at a time and wasn’t long before I either needed coffee or tea.😂 but roughly 4 to 5 hours each one.
